I've been coming to the city for work on a consistent basis for the past 7 years. Why has no one with the city addressed the constant decay of the sidewalks. They put a cone up and leave a hole unfixed for years, or they just leave a huge hole in the middle of the sidewalk.

It's a safety hazard, reeks of incompetent city management and a disregard for citizens and tourists visiting downtown.

Seriously, what gives?

Don't worry. Mitch gonna fill them up with statue rubble. Just waiting to find a contractor with the balls to take them down.

There was a time that I actually thought Mitch might be a good mayor and had hope for him. Man he is a letdown.

What prompted this post: I'm staying in a hotel on canal and just saw an elderly well dressed white lady trip in a hole and bust her arse.

Edited to say she was not drunk.

Lets worry about the roads first. There is currently a study being done in all areas of New Orleans for improvements. Data is currently being collected. Analysis is next. Please be patient.

Thanks

If you think the sidewalks are bad, check out the roads

Their water pipes leak so bad that they're actually forstalling subsidence. Their roads aspire to third world nation status. Their police department is so overburdened that it needs nearly 3 times the number of officers just to get their average response times back under 30 minutes in most neighborhoods. You think they give a flying f$&k about sidewalks?

That's like a homeowner worrying about repainting the stucco a nicer color when the roof is completely collapsed in on itself.

They'll find the money when people quit coming into town because of it.

I had a tourist tell me a few years ago, that we had nice roads 40 years ago. Told him, they likely hadn't been touched in 40 years.
