When you know the reality of the geographic and hydraulic characteristics of your city and the extremely high risk of rain event (hurricanes) hitting your region on a yearly basis, having a drainage system properly performing should be in the top 2 on your to-to list. The only other item that might be above it is crime prevention. Obviously there is not much productive effort being made on that item.

The fact that any effort at all was spent on the removal of a few statues that offended a few little bitches is a slap in the face to the rest of the population of that city.

If I am ever in the position with the opportunity to vote in an election where he is a candidate, I would rather write in a vote for David Duke than that two-faced lying punk.

Anyone come out and explained why pumps were down for maintenance during hurricane season? Additionally, a time of year that produces afternoon showers and squalls almost daily?

The pumps in New Orleans are critical pieces of equipment. There should be an A/B pump for every pump there is, where you simply swap suctions and discharges in the event a pump is under maintenance.

I don't give a frick how much that would cost, it should have been the protocol since Katrina. New Orleans is one giant sump and the water is not going to flow uphill. These pumps are vital to keeping water flowing out of the sump.

And if Mitch knew the pumps were down during the rainiest part of the year, that's on him. He needed to do whatever it took to get the pumps in service again. For a part of the country with so many industrial contractors right down the road, there is no excuse.

Unfortunately, this is probably the wisest course of action.

The saddest thing is, there's no appreciably better possible alternative to replace him then.

at least it is somewhat satisfying to watch Landrieu's national aspirations melt away in real time, after he had essentially checked out

Not only that, but for it to come so quickly after the statue debacle, highlighting exactly what most have been saying, stop wasting resources on bullshite that nobody cares about and focus on the important things.

There could be no better example than what we are seeing now.

frick you Mitch, and all the other corrupt idiots in our city gov't.

Yeah...but now that that statues are gone, all those smart people that left New Orleans because of them can come back home and use their brains to fix the problems...

Mitchell J. Landrieu is President to the Board of Directors of the Sewerage and Water board.

Mitch, you self-righteous POS, what part of the President do you not understand?

Still has potential to be future FEMA director. He's proven to be good at deflecting and blaming everyone else.
