Every penny of that $16 million should be audited by the feds.

Kick em out and put up the fences like they did on Claiborne under the interstate, keep doing this for every major event forcing them more and more into New Orleans East and the problem will resolve itself. Sounds like a win regardless the cost

A better idea would be to have famous New Orleans chefs cook them up and feed them to the tourist in town for the game. Problem solved! Might even make a few bucks at the same time.

BS.
The current council and mayor haven’t done anything to address the homeless problem, just like all previous councils. But yeah, let’s blame the new governor that is at least trying to do something.
Leftist garbage.

And I got downvoted to hell months back for saying New Orleans is a shite hole, that the moment you get off the interstate there’s tent cities. This is beyond disrespectful to the people of New Orleans. They are saying the quiet part out loud, that they COULD solve the ridiculously massive homeless problem in the city, they just choose not to.

How do I get a sweet contract like that?

WFG is a solid outfit with years of experience in handling this kind of stuff in particular.
WFG, like all ngos created to “fix” a problem using government grants is nothing but a money laundering scheme to pay off backers of the political class for their support.
If their experience and expertise were so great, the problem would be getting better, not worse.
Oh…. Wait… what’s that? They have a financial incentive to keep the problem they are trying to “fix” alive and well? No wayyyyy!
Let me go find my shocked pikachu face.

Not sure you posted the right link. This story details, who is getting the $16m (its an offshoot of the Lemoine Company), and its double what the city requested to have the same operation performed.

You are extremely off the mark on this friend I’m sorry.
It’s disaster response, not disaster prevention.
Firms like that provide rapid and competent staffing to government agencies only in times of need. The market dictates the pricing.

They could send the people to college for less than that

Thing is how many of these folks want to be in homes? They can’t take care of themselves to begin with. When they need case managers to manage them, it’s time to build institutions. Half are probably young / middle aged grifters, zero sympathy. The old vets if many left, those are who need the housing and help. I’m tired of these folks hanging on street corners and begging.

Now imagine what it would cost taxpayers to tuck them all permanently.
Hence the homelessness “crisis”
This particular problem stems from government and society at large.
But what about hurricanes? Folks like the downed trees in the road to be handled abruptly, firms like WFG facilitate that.
People like federal assistance when their homes are destroyed. Firms like WFG facilitate that as well while working to maximize things in favor of the beneficiary.
Normal everyday people in our communities acting in service to the public at a fair wage, let’s shite on them for bidding on work and winning it because they are reliably good at what they do!

I've got a hayfield they can put them in for $4 million. I will need them to build a containment fence.

City hasn’t done anything for years so state had to step in.

Are you actually trying to defend this?
Spending $80,000 per person to store them away for 90 days?
You must be getting a cut

The overwhelmingly vast majority are only looking for their next drink or their next fix of something, they are checked out of society and waiting around to die.
What will likely not be published is the number of these homeless people who will inevitably pass away in this temporary shelter situation.
What would they have to pay you to be there trying to assist them, only to find them dead of overdose/suicide/murder and having to deal with it both physically and psychologically? Or almost guaranteeing yourself a coronavirus infection for your troubles? Something else for folks to think about when they form their own estimates of what something like this should cost taxpayers.

Definitely not getting a cut.
I have worked in the industry in a past life and am just trying to be informative, people here impugning their neighbors while working with very low information.
