By the time this thing opens, the current mayor will be term limited out, in jail on corruption charges, or both.

Absolutely.

But there's a difference when Boh has to stay on budget.

Boh Bros had lots of major major enormous construction companies on that job.

Kiewit
Massman
Traylor Bros

Those 3 compmies make Boh Bros look like a small little mom and pop company

Without the big 3 there’s no way Boh gets that job done.

Landrieu and the Aviation Board appear to have paid little attention at first to the key question of how travelers would get to the new terminal.

Although they announced plans for the new terminal in April 2013, state records show the Mayor’s Office didn’t make its first request to the state to finance the I-10 flyovers until October 2014 — 18 months later.

Yes, if you use the long term or third party parking.
No, if you pay for more expensive parking. They have two surface lots and a garage at the new terminal.

he food & beverage vendors got fricked on the construction because the TWO different GCs didn't coordinate together and now most of the food vendors build-out space was configured incorrectly and kitchens were built too smal

Since we have a few more months now, is this something they can go back in and re-design? Or is it too late?

They built a direct road through. No driving through Susan park.

I saw a sign from one of those third party parking vendors the other day from the Interstate (I can't recall which one) who appeared to be in the process of building a new lot on the new terminal side.

How do some Kenner residents feel about New Orleans' new airport? Overlooked

Although consultants for the airport, seeking community feedback, hosted two meetings in June 2013 at the nearby Doubletree Hotel, just 33 residents attended, according to the consultants’ report. Many residents of the Veterans Heights/Susan Park neighborhood, among them Holmes, say they never heard about those meetings, though the consultants sent out 4,000 invitations.

“I just think the community should have been involved from the start of this,” Holmes said in a recent interview. “Everybody should have had access to the table. That was not granted.”

The Veterans Heights/Susan Park neighborhood lies between Interstate 10 on the north, the airfield to the south, the St. Charles Parish line to the west and the Airport Access Road to the east. It had 5,000 residents at the time of the 2010 census.

Landrieu's solution was to have the Consultants send those invitations to residents in New Orleans East!

Didn’t say it was, just point out the scale of this clusterfrick.

Mitch the Bitch got it in the pipeline as an accomplishment before he left office and it is going to take years to fix all the problems involved.

Oh, I know. I understood what you were getting at.

She'll likely get convicted on some piddling $10,000 deal, while this is still racking up billions with Mitch sitting pretty.

I'm an investor in one of the new restaurants at the new airport and we are trying to figure it out but doesn't appear likely. As of right now, the answer is NO for most of the food vendors because the space is limited out and there is no room to expand or retrofit. We might be able to get another 4 feet for our kitchen which is 10 feet smaller than what was originally designed.

Yes, because this clusterfrick was the only possible alternative to that one.

Well, I guess that's so actually.

Were the restaurant vendors allowed no input into the design of their kitchen facilities? Lord.

At this point they should go full Fyre Fest and say frick it, open on May 15th, and just see what happens.

It’ll be a complete shite show but the documentary will be good.

The new airport is desperately needed but the haters are mad because Mitch & crew rushed this thing through for his own political ambitions and image and in rushing it through the way they did they didn't focus on the proper preparation and coordination between all of the parties involved. His mindset was just build the pretty building so it wil be ready for the 300th anniversary.
