It’s not about capacity dipshit. It’s about functionality and efficiency.

Then kenner has no plans to beef up Vintage to handle increased traffic, and esplanade has two major road works projects about to start.
They stomped down putting a light at Chateau.
So if you live in North Kenner, commute will be hell soon.

blame it on the food & beverage vendors not being ready
Why would that stop it from opening? Open it, keep working on food spots, throw a few vending machines in until done.

These people are obstructionists. Forever fearful of change.

There's a case to be made for perhaps taking the current terminal apart, and rehabbing/redesigning but the old terminal doesn't just need some paint. It has some severe design deficiencies. It would have to be substantially changed
And I think people underestimate the headaches that would be involved in doing just that. You would have to shut down large portions of the terminal at a time to completely gut and rebuild everything, both passenger-side and behind the scenes / ramp-side.
For example someone said just convert Concourse A to food... ok... but how in the hell are you going to get that on the gate-side of security for Concourse C and D?
You would have to make major additions to the terminal as the current configuration just doesn't work. When you also consider that the current terminal isn't just one big building but really a series of interconnected buildings built at various times over the years.
You would have at least 6 years of major inconveniences, gate assignments constantly moving around, etc. You wouldn't save much money.
Here, it's literary stop going to one building and go to another.
If the state would have gotten off their duff and handled their responsibility for the interstate connection, OR if we actually used toll roads responsibility in this state, people would have almost nothing to complain about.
The new terminal is a huge project - this isn't like building a chic fil a with a common footprint. Airport projects like this are rare and very individualized. of course there is going to be delays, changes, etc - not to mention they decided to build out two major expansion projects DURING construction.
