There's tons to do. Just have to be safe about it of course. Here's a few things:
Drinks:
1. Hotel Monteleone - Carousel Bar which is basically a bar that rotates like a carousel (hence the name).
2. Fat Tuesday - Daquiri's in Nola cant be beat. Make sure you get an extra shot
3. Tropical Isle off Toulouse St- Hand grenade is a must. I prefer it frozen. Taste better
4. Fish bowl - cant get them anywhere on bourbon
Eats:
1. ACME Oyster House - They have on in BR but I think this spot has great chargrilled oysters
2. Antoine's Resturant - Higher end but right on Bourbon St. Great food
3. Cafe Du Monde - Beignets of course. Line's long af but worth it. There is another one but not as good as this one
4. The Court of Two Sisters - Brunch buffet plus mimosas
5. The Corner Oyster House - Seafood restaurant thats pretty good
6. Compere Lapin - Brunch
Dance:
1. Saints & Sinners
2. Union Bar (think thats the name - Bourbon St)
3. Funky 544
4. The Swamp
5. Razzoo - club and patio
6. Fat Catz
7. Chris Owens

They got us. Hook. Line. Sinker. What's sad is after 40+ years on this rock known as Earth, we should have known better.

Do: Go to the bars in the 800 block of Bourbon.
FWIW - the bathrooms are clean, the AC is fridged, the music is bumping and the drinks are strong, but the girls in the group will have to buy the drinks at the bar. The bartenders have strong "straight-dar".

Streetcar is fun when the weather is nice, but it is far from a reliable source of transportation, especially late at night. Uber is solid in NOLA, and lots of great bars and attractions will be in walking distance of each other, but not necessarily your hotel (NOLA is super walkable). The avenue pub is right by your hotel and will be a must stop for drinks.
Since your group is younger, I would imagine eating, drinking, and live music will be the main highlights of your trip. New Orleans is excellent at that. Some great venues for music near the Warehouse district, cbd, french quarter, and bywater/marigny (all east of your hotel) include The Howling Wolf, One Eyed Jacks, Saenger Theater, Orpheum Theater, Joy Theater, Balcony Music Club, the spotted cat, dba, snug harbor, bacchanal, carnival lounge, Vaugne’s, and hi ho lounge.
As tourists, bourbon street will be a trap, but can be a fun one for getting hammered. Don’t stay past two and you’ll be relatively safe. Frenchman Street is another excellent area to barhop and hear live music.
In other parts of town are the Maple Leaf, Tipitina’s, Gasa Gasa, Chickie Wawa, the Rock n Bowl, and Southport Hall.
As for breweries, Urban South is king in New Orleans, but NOLA Brewery and Courtyard may be worth a visit as well.
As for food, there’s too many great places to list. On the cheaper side, I love Liuzza’s, Parkway, R&O’s (out of the way in Metairie), Blue Oak, The Joint, Juan’s Flying Burrito, and Cuchon Butcher. On the pricier side, Peche, Commander’s Palace, Cuchon, and Shaya. There’s a million great options, and dozens of bad ones, especially in the tourist trap areas.
Avoid New Orleans East. Don’t go between Rampart and Broad past the Lafitte Greenway unless you’re going to Dookie Chase or Willie Mae’s Scotch House. Avoid the area bounded by Baronne (a couple blocks north of St. Charles), the approach to the Crescent City Connection, Broad St, and Napoleon

Do: Make sure your will and life policies are up to date.
Don't: make any plans after your scheduled return home.

If you're in the quarter on Sunday, (or any day) the Chart Room is a great place to catch the Saints game. It's a dive bar where locals hang out and have cheap drinks. Julie will be tending bar. She's the best bartender in NOLA. The Chart Room is on Chartres Street just a few blocks away from Jackson Square.
