Grab a few drinks and take the street car line uptown and enjoy the scenery along St Charles. It’s a fun way to kill a few hours and check out the great houses. Hop off at the columns hotel and refuel your drinks

I think avenue pub is still open 24 hours, it’s a great bar. Grab a table upstairs on the balcony

Late night or early morning beignets at Cafe du Monde. Early morning (like 7 am) is best... not crowded and you can see the city wake up.

One of my favorite things to do is sit at Labooze and people watch and watch all the strippers going to and from work at Ricks, also watch all the pervs walk in and out I’ve spent hours at Labooze just people watching on Bourbon. It’s one of my guilty pleasures

Duly noted for my next visit.

The GF and I we’re killing some time walking around Jackson square last weekend and I couldn’t believe the line to get in. There must have been 200 people waiting to get in

Lunch at Commanders - best deal in the city on the Prix Fixe menu.

Call for your rezzies now and bring appropriate dress.

Agreed. That street side bar is fun, always has sports on and the people watching is top notch.

I’m being dead serious when I say this.

If you want to experience a real, genuine dive bar, go to Ms Maes on Magazine St then go to Brothers III right down the street. I swear to God you will never experience anything like it.

Ms Maes stays open 24/7
BRothers III closes at 4 am

You and your friends would probably also enjoy The Boot, F&Ms patio Bar and The Tchop Yard.

All those bars are Uptown and safe, much safer than the Quarter.

Where are you near the street car line? If you're by Tacos and Beer, assuming you're near Jackson and St. Charles.

Use Uber/Lyft to get around; street car is fun for a ride or two but very inefficient. Go to the Ponchartrain Hotel rooftop bar Hot Tin (very close to you). Jack Rose is also a good restaurant at the base of the hotel.

Would also venture down St. Charles towards Tulane / Audubon Park. Superior Seafood, Vincents, Cooter Browns, Columns Hotel, Delachaise are all good spots to a grab a bite and drinks. Magazine street between Louisiana and Jackson cross streets also has a ton of bars and restaurants (Tracy's, Bulldog, Rendevous, Rum House).

They used to sell some of the best cigars in the city, but now that there’s no smoking in bars I don’t think they sell them anymore.

I’ve never been to Ricks before the sun went down.

I usually wait for the C team to leave and the A team to show up

Watch crossing the street on Bourbon. Witnessed a crack head take out a Lucky Dog stand with a Lincoln Continental once time.

You got your shoes on the bottom of your feet.

Don’t drink the Hand Grenades, Hurricanes, etc. They suck and you’ll pay for it for two days.

Don’t stare at the homeless junkies on Royal St or they’ll follow you and talk shite for couple blocks.

When you get to St. Ann’s St, turn around don’t drown (in the pools of fairy jizz... unless that’s your thing then have a blast).

Don’t look the nutria rats in the eyes.

Otherwise, the zoo is worth a visit. You can ride the street car and check out the mansions on the way.

I find the aquarium boring.

The mall on the low end of Canal is great for shopping. But Magazine St is better.

WW2 museum is awesome if you like history.

The Presbytere and Cabildo are worth checking out. They’re identical buildings that have different exhibits in them. I got married in the Presbytere in the front room overlooking Jackson Square.

Clancy’s and Mr. John’s are a couple of good restaurants that you can hit and not have to worry about fighting the FQ crowd.

Basically if you want to get rowdy, go to Bourbon and just don’t do too much stupid shite. If you just want to drink and socialize with the group you’re with and with other small groups, do like one poster suggested and go to the rooftop bar in the Pontchartrain or something like that.
