Plenty of red and blue states showing significant losses. The mayor breakdown of all these cities will be largely democratic, but who’s more to blame, governor or mayor?
Probably the officials who determine specific policy within their jurisdiction.

Bruh, would definitely throw some change in the hat to see that when I’m crossing the high rise...

It's a travesty how so many people are being punished and economically ruined.

Well let’s see. Lafayette is open. Nola ain’t. Both in the shitty state of Louisiana.

The judges are keeping us shut down for the time being so not the best example. This issue is extremely local.
The level of deference afforded to the Governor on his emergency proclamations is very, very high.
The state legislature has the ability to terminate the Governor's emergency proclamations by a simple majority at any time -- although the ramifications of doing this are somewhat unclear. There are a number of bills being considered right now in Second Extraordinary Session that seek to further restrict the Governor's power to renew previous emergency proclamations. Of course, whether those ultimately become law depend on the Governor's signature (lol) or Legislative override (not a sure-fire thing).

Your little business isn't worth someone's life. You need to make sacrifices to save people.

At this point it doesn’t matter what the legislature does the reality is that the damage is already done and it will take a decade or longer to come back.

You're probably right.

A decade? What happened to the 3-5 year projections?

Why would it take a decade?
What’s gonna take it so long?

I’m no fan of Latoya or the governor but the City could have been 100% open and we still would not have the high value business and convention tourism.
Leisure travel may have been marginally better but nothing moves the needle like corporate travel.
The most conservative actors as it’s relates to COVID is corporate America - even more so than government in my opinion

Yep
Big companies are still pretending it’s March with their workforce (that is unless you can work in a warehouse)

We’re talking about a city that still hasn’t recovered from Katrina.

You clearly don’t live in New Orleans. Do I need to pull up numbers?

Maybe, but the gulf coast looked mighty busy this past summer. Orange Beach was crowded when I was there.

Texas is a great example of blue city mayors and red state governor
