Hey guys just wanted to let you know that we are getting closer to that lucky 10000 poster who will win a free month of tigerdroppings gold just by saying it’s always hot in the summer. So keep on plugging them comments.

Friends,
As New Orleans literally has every other festival under the sun...when will we have the inaugural Front Day Festival?

Do cities in Louisiana put “mandatory water conservation” orders in effect?

Been beating this drum for years. The historical average highs are generally still accurate for the metro in the summer, but the historical average lows are comically outdated. The lows during the summer run 8-10 degrees hotter than the historical averages and have for some time. It’s truly what makes south shore summers miserable - 88+ degree temperatures past midnight.

Let me summarize this in a few words:

There were 9 hurricanes in 1980, the most since 1969.
This was after Allen…
So we just need some hurricanes or tropical storms to bust up the heat wave. Just like in 1980.

According to NASA, it's because of last year's massive underwater volcano near Tonga.

Setting the climate change stuff aside, I have never experienced anything like this summer.
Highlights:
-a full month of 100+ heat index highs
-a week where the low never dropped below 100 heat index
-My pool temp yesterday was 97 at 4pm.
-The ocean temp is close to 90 on the northern gulf coast.
Ready for fall.

Bookmarked for next summer when it’s hot.

In the summer of 1980 I was 12, and usually was not wearing shoes unless I was riding my bike. I remember that summer tested my ability to go barefoot, as the concrete sidewalk scorched my feet and tar in the street would melt and stick to them. This summer is pretty damn hot though.

"it is always this hot"
quote:
After recording a high temperature of 103 degrees on Monday, Houston’s Hobby Airport extended its string of 100-degree days to 11 in a row. The previous record for the airport location, which has kept records for nearly a century dating back to 1930, was nine consecutive days, set back in 1962. Due to its proximity to the coast, Hobby Airport tends to have fewer 100-degree days than the city’s other major climate location, Houston’s Intercontinental Airport. There is a slight chance of breaking the streak on Wednesday, but if not it likely will extend into the weekend.

You can’t rely on Uncle’s memory, please.
Dave Schwartz, aka Uncle Drunk, may be LSU’s most infamous Hebrew scholar but those ten years in a Montana prison weren’t helpful.
Once upon a time Uncle and I were playing a round at City Park Golf course near LSU. Dave and I were sharing clubs and maybe playing a little slower than if we each had a set. So of course someone complained and we were asked to leave. Dave marched his 5’2” and 100 pounds into the clubhouse and demanded our money back. Of course the city bureaucrats refused. So as we walked out the building Dave screamed at the top of his lungs, “ Eff you and all you effin Nazis for still kicking Jews off the golf course “.
