What are the demographics of the spread?
why does it matter? My guess is the same demographics of people who went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras and didn’t get run over by a float.

This is bullshite. I know several people on the front line, and I've talked to them as recently as last night. Most of the hospitals in the GNO area have NOT reached ICU capacity. They paint a picture that is hectic and fast moving, but definitely not at capacity. There are one or two hospitals that ARE pushing capacity. Overall the GNO area can handle more, which is good, because it's increasing.

It’s almost like the city and state were already underfunded and poorly organized shitholes, decades in the making. Weird how that exacerbates a public services problem such as this.

I just can’t see why New Orleans and Louisiana are so unprepared. I mean how could we have ever anticipated this?

It’s not like the city and state were exposed in 2005 for having the contingent/emergency capabilities of a west African country.

After all, our infrastructure is up to date and well maintained through all of the well-allocated post-Katrina money.

How could we ever have known that literally any surge in public health needs would overwhelm our systems?

Why do the trends of who has and is rapidly spreading an infectious Disease matter?

Oh, I can’t think of any reason that information would be important.

I don't know if any certain demographic is worse than any other. I think an age breakdown would be what to look at in terms of demographic data.

What we're being told is that the younger people are the ones spreading it the most. I wonder if the data would back that up.

Show me.

Because I work at a major greater New Orleans hospital and we hardly have any patients at all. Now most of our patients are covid cases right now but there's lots of bed space and nobody's beating down the doors to get in.

That’s the main one I’m talking about, but all information is helpful.
Is this a surge of older people from a nursing home like lambeth? Is it a large group of young people that were all at a concert? A group that was on a float together? At a bar?

Information is useful

That's exaggerated. There are ventilators available as of this morning. Hospitals are converting 2-3 floors for patients that are not well, but not all are on vents.

“You’re sick? Stay at work and continue to go on bullshite medical calls, fight those fires, revive those heroin attacks, pick up those drunk homeless...then go home to your family and come back.” “ Yea I know we don’t have enough supplies to keep you guys safe on medical calls, and I know most departments are pulling Fire from these “I’m sick calls”, but you guys got this”

“Why? Because we’re low on manpower, because Mitch Landrieu and I fricked the pension system for new hires and no one wants the job, and for years I’ve said we had enough men, I lobbied against a pay raise. Now I do whatever Latoya says, and she’s mentally challenged”

- New Orleans Fire Superintendent Timothy McConnell
