Some of the countries that had the virus before the US are good measuring sticks on what to do and what not to do..China went into heavy quarantine and they seem to be on the downside of the virus..Their recovery numbers are going up everyday. As of today there is 81,019 confirmed with 67,841 recovered.. so over 13,000 still active in China.

I don't think it's too much to ask to listen to the authorities and help your fellow citizen..

But when it comes to things like a new, possibly deadly virus making the rounds and being highly contagious I'd rather be safe than sorry.
So are we setting a precedent then to shut down everything and quarantine people for weeks or months every few years when there’s a new virus...SARS, MERS, avian flu, swine flu (H1N1), corona?

Latoya actually did exactly what anyone in her position should have done today.

Ramble about Mardi Gras Indians and the praise people for avoiding a park where more people have died from gunshots than viruses so far this year?

I mean, that may have been all you heard, but she did (addressed) a lot more than that.

we're either going to develop individual-level respect for these viruses, or yes, that will happen

the alternative is becoming a bigger version of Italy

No dude. Culture. Crawfish. Mardi Gras. Seasoning.

Only NOLA. No where else. Everywhere else is bland.

It appears that for some people defying Cantrell is much more important than helping their fellow citizens.

HIV/AIDS is supposed to mix very poorly with this virus. that actually is a secondary worry of mine with these populations

Because of it mutating?

No just a higher death count and more hysteria that comes with it

Hysteria = more government response

When 99% of us die Mississippi might move up a couple spots in the ranking of states

Part of this is leading by example. Which she hasn’t exactly done in most scenarios, including this one.

What’s the current stance? I’m confused by your comment.

it isn't a big deal on an individual level

it's a contagious disease, not a particularly dangerous one

but, also, in the past 48 hours, the cases in Nola have exploded. it's also clear now (and really wasn't 48 hours ago) that it's been here for a bit and Nola is a hub

I’m from NC and live in Cali. My only affiliation to MS is that I graduated from Ole Miss.

Congrats on flexing on Mississippi though I guess

Ironic prior to 1980s Cajun food was never in NO lexicon - then Paul Prudhomme...... crawfish. If you think that started in Nola. Wrong again
