I saw on my FB feed that there were two shootings in the FQ and also saw a fight on the 500 block of Bourbon. This is t me looking to find how much of a shite show it was.

I also was told by a friend out there Friday that she witnessed people shooting up on Bourbon, not anything new, but that wasn't a huge problem when the guard was put there.

I was interested to see what the difference would be. Didn't expect two shootings in one weekend.

For reference I was posted out there for the second half of the 8 month deployment. I know we had atleast 5 shootings in the French quarter while we were out there. None on Bourbon since Mardi Gras.

Fightings and Thugs are a thing and we didn't eliminate that by being there .. but if you average out shootings alone, we went from maybe 1 a month to 2 the first weekend we aren't there.

Not that any of the OT Ballers would go out there... But I'd definitely avoid it now.

If you have questions I'll be happy to answer what I can about our time out there.

I don’t get out in cities after dark. Just that simple. They all suck since Covid and if you haven’t realized that, I can’t help you.

How to never have to interact with the bad apples of society? Get up early, go for a run or hit the gym, get in a round of golf or hit the lake, shower and settle in by 7-8pm in front of the TV.

Let the losers do what they do. No reason to be out of the house after 8:00pm.

Did you forget your rifle in the restroom?

No doubt the NG helped. More police presence will always chase lowlifes elsewhere.

The national guard wasn't deterring the junkies. They are everywhere in the CBD and FQ and have been for a while. The first block into the FQ from Canal is repulsive.

They never said why the orders weren't continued. The community, NOPD, and I assume local government wanted us.. but the politics between Landry and the Mayor probably didn't help anything.

I went nose blind to that shite hole pretty quick. But it's impossible not to smell when you pass by people smoking, which was everywhere
