We have posters here who can’t comprehend that living in Orleans doesn’t mean we support Covid restrictions.

These are the same people that are tough as frick yet carry a gun everywhere and ran from the southshore. Let them go, eventually the Northshore will be over run with trash too and they’ll have nowhere to go.

It wasn't a saftey decision, it was a liability decision. All boils down to how much it could potentially cost vs. how important it is.

Kids today are soft. Back in my day we were lucky if we only got shot at on our field trips!

I went to McKinley Middle Magnet in Baton Rouge from 86-88. In my time there we had idiots shoot guns over our heads during PE class in the field across the street and we had bricks thrown through bus windows. Oh and a bomb threat that made the news.

There's truth to your post.

Sure you didn't go to Istrouma Middle instead because that's exactly when and where that happened during that time span.

I knew plenty kids from Istrouma through All Parish Honor Band. And no I'm absolutely positive it happened at McKinley. I was in the PE class that shots were fired over.
You cant tell from my picture but Louise Street was higher than the field was. They weren't shooting at us but definitely fricking with us. Fired two shots over us. I was 13 and will never forget the whizz sound of the bullets. Our teacher yelled "get your head down and get back to school" and we hauled arse.
The bricks thrown at bussses happened during the last week of school at the end of the 88-89 school year on that corner of Louise and Fannie. Happened two days in a row and then we had cops in place when busses left.

Funny enough Street View shows students at PE in the same spot we were. This is about where the shots came from.

Crazy because that happened at IMMS during that same time span when I was on the track at PE. I remember Coach Gautier yelling for all the students to run inside the gym after we heard a loud bang and whiz overhead.

I know there have been a bunch of shootings on the Interstate and US-90 to the West Bank. But is there any real reason to believe a school bus full of kids would be a target in the middle of the day?

Much, much higher odds of dying in a crash than being shot on I-10.

What the name of the hot blonde P.E teacher at that time? Maybe Coach Guidry? Is that right?

Our bus ride from Village St George to and from McKinley Middle was over an 1 hour each way ever fricking day. MISERABLE.

Don't remember any coaches like that. The only female PE teacher I remember there was Don Redden's mother.

I commuted from Monticello to IMMS and SMHS. That was an insane ride for a kid to take from home to school. (I can't believe I actually drove myself when I turned 15.)
