I hope so. It would be like having a third world African country run by dumbasses in the United States. Would be enjoyable to see them eat each other.

Good. The murder rate would go immediately down. I wonder what the murder rate is anyway if murders from New Orleans East were not included? Anyone want to take this on?

They should. Become a low tax Haven, give businesses incentives to move there and show New Orleans how it's done. They have an ideal spot with all that waterfront property along the intercoastal to attract industry.

Is there a petition I can sign in support of this? shite, I bet you could get the required signatures just going door to door in Lakeview and uptown.

Baker is actually pretty safe overall. Like one murder in the last few years. I always thought of NO East like Baker. Spread out, ranch style homes, mostly peaceful older black residents.

They can hook up with St Bernard.
Both should have been declared green space anyway.

Great idea. In reality, this is nothing other than a money grab. Let's set up our own city and we can skim off the top and award contracts to our friends.

#BetterTogether
Anyone forming their own cities is racist. Most racist thing ever.

This would be devastating because NOLA East is the crown jewel for entrepreneurs in Louisiana. They have businesses set up on every street corner.

NO East was billed as the "New" NOLA back in the late 70s, early 80s. Look at some of the neighborhoods that are off Bullard, North of I-10 and West of I-510. In the area further to the East, I have a scan of an old development map that shows how the "Exits to Nowhere" are tied in with all kinds of waterfront residential developments (ala the Northshore's Oak Harbor area) and shopping areas where Bayou Savage is currently located. There's no way that would be able to fly nowadays since this area is protected now.
I'm not sure why it went downhill. I've heard that they put in the "Exits to Nowhere" to try to trick people to moving to NO with no intention of developing (doesn't explain the map i have though). Or it could have been due to white flight after the Apollo moon rocket days (before Shuttle picked up heavily in the 80s).

Why does everyone that's spent time in New Orleans think anyone challenging their knowledge of the city is a threat

Different parishes. Arabi is in Da Parish, while the lower nine is in da hood!

The east is shite.... Can't keep businesses open because of theft, and the murder rate is out of control.... They should split and bring the National Guard in...
