Anybody know how much they are spending on this and what contractor got the job?

Renting out hotels seems like a much cheaper option.

How? They can literally make the convention enter one big open floor. Seems to make the most sense to me.

Mad you didn’t get the job?

Who gives a shite how much it costs. Yeah it’s gonna be more than it should have been, move on.

Do you have any idea how many hotels it would take to fit 3000 hospital beds not to mention the elevators in hotels aren’t big enough for a hospital bed.

You didn’t really think this post through before you started the thread did you?

The federal taxpayer, through their friends with their credit card in Congress. That who's paying for it.

The bigger questions are who is going to staff it? For how long? If they expect it to be near capacity (1,100 to 1,300 beds?), how long will it take for those people to be well enough to be discharged? Are they expecting Ochsner, LCMC and whoever else has a hospital in Nola Metro to absorb the patient load at the end date? That's what I want to know.

What about BR when we get to capacity? Are we going to use the tent outside of OLOL?

Malco by Costco will be the area for BR. They are working on the same thing as in NOLA at convention center.

Sheraton and Marriott turned down the offer. Hotels were the first choice.

Not like the convention center is seeing a lot of action these days, anyway.

This is not OP original idea, and part of Lt. Gen. Todd T. Semonite, chief of engineers plan to use 10,000 NYC hotel rooms. And said that a simple modification to the air conditioning can make each room negative pressure. Why do the need $15k hospital beds? Stretchers work just the same.

Bump. This place is empty right? Are there just thousands of National Guardsmen standing around doing nothing? Googled but there has been zero follow up by the media. Did find this quote from one of the original articles about the convention center interesting:

“ Those numbers kept New Orleans on a trajectory to run out of ventilators by the first week in April, and to run out of hospital beds for patients by April 8th-10th, Edwards said.

“This isn’t conjecture,” Edwards said. “This isn’t some flimsy theory. This isn’t a scare tactic. This is what’s going to happen.””

Whoops!
