Most of our bars are in a central location and dozens of people lined up on the sidewalk smoking affects more people than a few smoking in a bar.

So are ours, there is 3 major bar strips of about 8-9 blocks in the downtown core. Either they have a smoker's pit out back or they let people in and out. It's not like there is constantly 20 people outside smoking. Smoking outdoors is way different than smoking inside in my opinion. Outside it can actually dissipate, inside not so much.

therein lies the lack of information that is conveyed as it pertains to the studies conducted by the CDC. A percentage of the references that are made to secondhand smoke are also combined with the phrase "in the home or work place". Therefore, the studies are referring to conditions or multiple hours of exposure multiple times per week.

I have my doubts on the academic sincerity of comparing these studies to this discussion of patrons at bars and restaurants.

The sky is falling, but you'll still go to the same bar and go outside to smoke.

I think this is a point if there are still smoking bars available.

If there is a trend of new bars opening that are smoke free then there must be money to be made there no? Wasn't the argument made earlier that bars would lose money?

So what now of the demand for bars that allow smoking inside? There's nothing a business owner/start up can do to fill that demand.

That's for a business owner to decide.

Some will, some will not.

This has everything with the right of businessmen and women to decide if their establishment will allow smoking or not.

the argument is that the non-smoking option is available and non-smokers should support those options to win in the market of ideas

You and your friends should consider going to some of those bars that the private business owner decided to make smoke free.

This is the reason why I enjoy going to the Pelican House.

No one forces you to go to smoker friendly bars.

Sounds like a trend made for some reason no?

I'm sure that is true for some. Let the businesses decide how they want to handle it.

I would be as adamant about this if the law was totally flip flopped. If the govt all of the sudden said you HAD to let someone smoke in your restaurant/bar then I would also say that is total bullshite.

Let private business run their businesses how they see fit in regards to this legal substance.

You're just too stupid to understand the concept, and I am one of the people who will not go to bars that follow the ban

Wanna know why? It's because I have a choice not to go to non-smoking bars ya dumb frick

What if the city government told a bar that they had to allow smoking? Would that be fair?
