Wasn't it property rights that businesses owners invoked to keep their businesses segregated? I get it, this isn't on that level, but it's not always black and white.

i don't agree with the anti-discrimination laws, either

If this was the case bar owners would be making their bars smokefree EVERYWHERE. You should let them in on this little nugget you have here.

When I was in my 20s there was no place I know of that was smoke free. Others have listed many bars now in New Orleans that are apparently smoke free. Sounds like a trend made for some reason no?

I never said bars would, but some will definitely take big hits. A lot of people that went to Vic's because it allowed smoking will probably find their way to Lucy's, Rusty Nail, or Barcadia now since they have nicer places and talent. I know that Balcony Bar lost quite a bit of business when they were forced to go smoke free a few years ago.

Lose one smoker, gain five non-smokers. You people don't realize how many people DONT go to bars because of the smoke.

yeah having them congregate in larger numbers in one group outside of that entrance will certainly help out your concerns

Yeah, it will. I won't have to breathe their bullshite "right" when I want to hang out with friends and grab a beer - go the frick outside.

Same here. There have been non-smoking places forever. These frickers just don't go to them. So instead of going to the non-smoking places, they CHOOSE to go to the smoking bars and bitch.

Don't like what someone else is doing, so kick them out to please yourself. Seems logical

it's not the right of smokers' that is infringed. it's the right of businesses to determine what to do with their property

If you dislike smoking, go to those bars instead of forcing your sensibilities on others, including business owners.

In the late 90s and early 2000s where in New Orleans could I have gone that was smoke free?

Honestly don't know.

Soooo, they do not have a bar. They have a street.

Thanks for the clarification.

You have never seen a bar with a patio or outside section? You aren't very smart.

Missed the point entirely no?? If there is a trend of new bars opening that are smoke free then there must be money to be made there no? Wasn't the argument made earlier that bars would lose money?
