I was in my second year of undergrad when my city changed the rules on this. It is so much better going to bars without it being a gross arse smokey place. The biggest was in the casinos, it made it a way more enjoyable experience.

I'm sorry you were forced into those smokey bars all those years.

As Im almost 37 I do not frequent bars as often.

Honestly, this is the demo that use the excuse of smoke being the reason they don't go.

Personally, I don't like smelling like smoke either, but I have a washing machine and shower to solve those problems.

I could see that exact line being used there

I'd vote yes for banning smoking in your car with kids inside.

nice example for choices specifically involving consenting adults

None of the bars had business affected. People just went outside which isn't a big deal even in the winter here.

Most of our bars are in a central location and dozens of people lined up on the sidewalk smoking affects more people than a few smoking in a bar.

Heart disease dwarfs any smoke-related deaths in this county. On your premise, the same restaurants should be restricted in the caloric totals of provides meals to patrons. I mean, it's a public health issue.

2nd hand smoking causes heart disease, plus what food you put in your body doesn't impact me at all like the trash that stands in front of an entrance a blows smoke everywhere. Your argument sucks.

They just won't be doing it inside the bar.

Soooo, they do not have a bar. They have a street.

Thanks for the clarification.

Aren't they always bitching about not enough cops and or money to do their jobs?

They'll have even less tax money to pay for cops after this ban. If not from bars losing revenue due to the ban, then definitely from decreased cigarette sales.

i'm curious to see this army that has apparently been forcing people to smokey bars at gunpoint all these years

are they more like green beret or black panther?

No bars are going to go out of business because of a smoking ban.

and i don't agree with almost all of them. i believe in rights that protect persons against government tyranny

property rights are a HUGE part of that (probably the biggest). those laws violate property rights

Wasn't it property rights that businesses owners invoked to keep their businesses segregated? I get it, this isn't on that level, but it's not always black and white.

So who gets the fine? The bar or the patron?

If it is the patron the bar won't give a frick about who lights up.

NOPD aren't responding to these calls and the bar owners aren't going to make them. The patron will be long gone before NOPD shows up.

yeah having them congregate in larger numbers in one group outside of that entrance will certainly help out your concerns

and who forces you to walk by them? the secret army of smoke inhalation?

Lose one smoker, gain five non-smokers. You people don't realize how many people DONT go to bars because of the smoke.

If this was the case bar owners would be making their bars smokefree EVERYWHERE. You should let them in on this little nugget you have here.

For myself personally its my eyes burning that I dislike the most and causes me to leave after I have had enough. The smell of smoke on my clothes suck but they are going to be washed anyways.

I mean...a business owner should have the right to deny service to whoever they wish

its their business

I know that is not a popular belief though
