every town and city in America has ordinances that affect how businesses are run.

and i don't agree with almost all of them. i believe in rights that protect persons against government tyranny

property rights are a HUGE part of that (probably the biggest). those laws violate property rights

I have heard this, but with plenty of non smoking options they still don't go.

Mrs Mae's won't be slammed on this news.

If any bar in the city is going to completely ignore the law, it will be Snake and Jakes.

No one forces you to enter a smoke friendly bar. why is this so hard to understand?

Smokers do not have a smoking bar option to go to now.

Go to the cigar/hookah bars. Smoke your little heart out..or you can just smoke outside whatever bar you want.

Heart disease dwarfs any smoke-related deaths in this county. On your premise, the same restaurants should be restricted in the caloric totals of provided meals to patrons. I mean, it's a public health issue.

I mean, if you're gonna go into a bar with a door buzzer and barely any lights, what do you expect? fricking hipsters prolly bitching about all of their new found "hole-in-the-wall" bars being smoky.

So would the ATF enforce this, or NOPD? If NOPD, do they really think it is a good idea to remove cops from the street and make them go around smelling the insides of bars? Aren't they always bitching about not enough cops and or money to do their jobs?

I'm going to go ahead and call BS on this
Then you'd better find a cow and bring a spoon because there will be bars that DGAF, and I'll just move to them. I seriously doubt that the bars I frequent will change though. I'd be willing to put money on it

I was in my second year of undergrad when my city changed the rules on this. It is so much better going to bars without it being a gross arse smokey place. The biggest was in the casinos, it made it a way more enjoyable experience.

None of the bars had business affected. People just went outside which isn't a big deal even in the winter here.

then why not let the market decide and have the non-smoking bars dominate the market?

let non-smoking bars win the war of ideas by having better ideas. what's so wrong about that?

Honestly I had no idea any of the bars previously listed were smoke free. Most are newer bars I have not visited. As Im almost 37 I do not frequent bars as often. Tips Uptown must have been a new change.

I'd vote yes for banning smoking in your car with kids inside. Can't stand to see that shite but it's mostly trashy people so it wouldn't really change anything.

Yes they do. They just won't be doing it inside the bar. They will still be able to do it in the bars outside area. People are just stuck on the inside part.

You voted down new laws.

I helped put on the ballot the ability to vote down an old law.

But I'm complacent?
