No I think its the governments responsibility to not write a law preventing a casino from opening that would like to have a smoke free area.

Woah buddy, you are ok with a law preventing a bar from opening that wants to be a smoking bar though?

There is no law on the books that makes Harrah's allow smoking.

I will be taking all of my business to Biloxi. I'll be damned if I can't light one up while losing big in black jack.

Why are you people not picketing outside the state capital daily over all the BS Blue Laws we have that are FAR more intrusive. And actually prevent business from being open all over the state and not just New Orleans?

is there a thread about blue laws? are there posted in them defending the blue laws? no, so it's not the same as this thread/discussion

I stated I like the law for selfish reasons.
I do not like or see the reason for the law.

Harrahs allows smoking in its entirety. No other casino that has a different view was allowed by law to open up. So I'm forced to stay home or put up with it.

Boggles my mind that people don't get this.

Just because the government has done stuff like this in other places or in the past, still doesn't make it ok.

Of course I have an opinion on this issue, however, I'm driving right now so I'll just have to hold off for a few hours.

To get technical, you can still smoke at any bar that chooses to have an outdoor area for smokers.

you didn't read

and a smoking bar means you can smoke inside of it

ANY of it? Eh...I would be careful using words like "any" and "always."

I have no problem with the government telling stores that they cannot sell cigarettes to minors. I'm not comparing that to the smoking ban per se, just saying that there are some government restrictions that you probably wouldn't be opposed to.
