If those walls could talk.

New Orleans architect Brian Anderson has purchased the former Library Bar building on West Chimes Street with plans to renovate the property.

The building was built in 1929 as four one-bedroom apartments but was most recently a bar. Anderson plans to put residential apartments on the second floor of the property and a mix of commercial and residential space on the ground floor. He estimates the renovations will cost $300,000 and will be completed by the end of summer next year.

He already renovated the other two historic building on chimes.. did a very nice job and maintained a historic flare … he updated them nicely and kept what historically he could ( I.e.floors etc)… y’all saw one of them in a recent thread….

Turning chimes into something nice.. one building at a time.

It’s too bad the bars along that strip didn’t work out. It’d be an amazing spot for drinking at LSU. It’s incredible how underutilized that corridor is.

Ingas and Chimes are institutions as well. RIP geauld Tiger and their dirt cheap Chinese food.

I went to lsu during 2013. North of campus could’ve been great with chimes and the varsity. It’s near all the frat houses. It’s a shame with those shitty northgate apartments and the cvs. Then every other street corner is ghetto af.

Lsu had the potential to be a very cool college town but it just has tiger land which is a dump (great for college kids) but visiting after is a shiteshow

I think so. But it could have been cafe reggae. I can’t remember.

Brian's a good guy- went to LSU and appreciates Chimes St history-. He'll do it right.

How many students back in the day used to tell their parents they were going to the library when they were really going to "The Library"?

This right here son. Pitchers of Turbodog and free pool at The Bayou, then walk over for foosball at The Library with sketch meth dealers.
