Homeland security got 190 Billion dollars in the “Big Beautiful Bill.” How the hell can they be out of money?

Based on photos like this, a friend of mine was advised to arrive 4hrs before his 3PM flight Thursday before last. He got there 3 hrs early and never saw any lines. Took him minutes to get through. Not saying this isn’t real, but pics he saw prior to his flight were similar.

You’d think. But nowadays there’s no telling. TDS is real and it’s rampant.

My son has been in line over 2 hours. It will be close to 4 hours when he gets through. Yes it is real. Hopefully it gets better for everyone else the rest of the day and week.

Edit: He is TSA pre check but didn't matter this morning

I fly out of MSY next Monday at 8:30 AM.

I have no idea what time to arrive.

I have pre check. Not clear.

So this really is Trump’s fault? This is intentional theater?

I don’t know. I’m trying to figure out how a department that got 190 Billion dollars less than a year ago has to furlough anyone.

Imagine that...lots of folks leaving NOLA on a Sunday morning during spring break time. TSA limitations notwithstanding, much busier in that day/time slot. Carry on.

difference between flying in the middle of the week and flying on a Sunday morning

Early Sunday is almost exclusively leisure travelers, who are less prepared and move slower than frozen molasses. Business travelers tend to cluster Sunday afternoons, Monday mornings, and Thursday afternoons.

Leisure travel on non holiday weeks is anecdotally low in the middle of the week compared to Thursday-Sunday.

This is a NOLA thing. I flew out of ORD Friday. 10 minute TSA line.

It had been happening at different airports around the country. Just not on back to back days at the same airport.

If TSA employees wanted to prove a point they would all do it on the same day and frick travel up for 2 weeks. These single airports do nothing.

I have not read through entire thread but I will say TSA PRE CHECK for the win if you fly a lot. I flew out of new orleans to o'hare Sunday morning. It took us 15 minutes to get through line at 0615 flight. The guy sitting next to us, over two hours.

It might not be worth it for occasional flights but once you get it, you got it. Really helps international
