Yeah, not many people were going left there previously.

Correct.

90% or more of the traffic turning left, now, will be airport-related.

I wonder if more of our North Kenner friends will be taking the exit at Williams, or heck, even the one to the mall and hook around the mall to West Esplanade.

s there a logical place to drop off for the rental counters? Across from the credit card lot I guess?

yeah that's what I'm thinking. The CC lot is no more (in that spot), so I guess they could make that a bus turnaround or something.

The parking needs at MSY might dictate they need to keep that credit card lot as well.

Crazy to think the old long term garage will be cheaper than the new long term garage? Will it drop in price?

I was at the soon to be disused airport recently and it looks like they added a covered driveway area closer to the old terminal walkway toward the rental facility.

If you look at the car rental facility on google maps, it is near the covered walkway just north of the rental facility; if memory serves, it is in the area where it shows trees.

I'm ASSUMING that's where the drop off will be (but who knows for sure until it's in use).

The sunshine pumpers are certainly out.

Those predicting failings at the new airport aren't being negative. They are acknowledging history.

Predicting this opening to be close to smooth would be like predicting the Browns would win the Superbowl or Wile E would catch the roadrunner. New Orleans politicians were in charge.

Why park when you can support your local Uber drivers ?

Lyft is way cheaper and you don't fear for your life as if you were in a cab going 40 in the far left lane

I’m on the first flight tomorrow. Kinda worried this is going to go terribly.

Not really that crazy when given the locations of each.

LT Parking increases from $16 to $20 (for 24 hours)

ST Parking increases from $19 to $22

Surface Lot (old credit card lot) goes from $11 to $18.

And you have new economy lot at $12.

So the "cheapest" on-site parking goes up $1 and you have to take a shuttle. The cheapest parking without a shuttle goes up $7.

How much is the new US Park lot (at end of Vets) going to cost? That might be a better option than the economy garage, and it may be a shorter shuttle trip.

It's weird all the parking had to increase so much when we were told this whole deal was all "funded by the airlines."

I wonder if that funding ends at the terminal or extends to the other onsite buildings.

Those have to be huge money makers for the airport itself.

Sorry you are a poor that can't afford a bit more to park.

News flash... the cost of a coke might go up a dime as well.

When was the last time MSY raised parking rates? Inflation, ya heard?

And more specifically, it's "not funded by the state/city taxes".

It wasn’t wonderfully functioning, but I bet I could have made it so for something less than $100 million.

Member when you said this?

I mean, it's true.

It certainly wouldn't have been shiny and new all around, but absent a few wrinkles it was perfectly functioning.

If you'll look at all my posts here, I've actually been quite even-handed about this new thing and I'm holding to cautious optimism that it turns out something great.

I still won't be convinced that it's not money overkill, but that's water under the bridge at this point, I guess.

Gotta love that $12 garage parking at BTR. Especially if you get a discount!

looks like 11 flights land tonight after 8 pm. 3 of them are going to the old terminal, so 8 of them will deplane at the new terminal. Assuming avg 150 pax per flight, that's 1200 people that will get to be the first to experience it.
