The bridge will be six lanes and you can save the $7.70 toll if you opt to using the existing tunnel. That is a shorter duration than I expected.

Baton Rouge responds by initializing another environmental study for the impacts of the ongoing environmental study initiated in 2008 for the possibility of a new bridge by 2085.

Hopeful but extremely doubtful. They've only been talking about this for 30 years now. I cross it 10 times a week so I'd love to see it happen.

Until they accidentally drive a bridge support into the existing tunnel and have to stop while they repair it and investigate the accident.

Gonna go out on a limb and say there's no chance that happens.

They still haven't driven test piles.

Test piles were installed and multiple test ran across many testpiles in 2018.

In addition, about 30 more have been installed and load tested with current testing still ongoing/visible everyday for the past 9 months.

Does my $8 get me all the way past Buc-ees?

Or does the bridge drop me back onto I-10 at the battleship for stop and go traffic for the next 30 minutes?

I support the idea but I don't like how they plan to paint everything white.

Here’s a detailed video of the project.

It’s long overdue, but $7.70 to use the interstate is outrageous.

In Louisiana, you could go ahead and add 5 years to that.

For the toll gate they will use a gray barn door that rolls to the side.

There will be 3 new lanes only going East with no entrance or exit until you hit the Florida Stateline. DeSantis is paying for it. The signs will say Mobile - Gateway to Florida.
