Where can I get one of these new long range thermometers?

"Caution: These infrared thermometers are not intended for medical or clinical use. They should not be used to measure body temperature."

Considering the actual medical ones that are just swiped across the forehead aren't all that accurate, these type which are not used in the medical field have to be perfect, right?

All has to do with emissivity, but I’m sure all the liberals know the science.

Who else feels weird when you walk in a business and some kid aims that thing at your head?
FWIW, a forehead temp reading isn't really indicative of anything at all. An oral reading is OK but a core body temp is the only real way to get accuracy from a medical perspective.
This taking your forehead temp stuff is just theater for the masses. If you want proof of that, just ask that minimum wage worker that takes your temp what their clinical plan is for an out of spec reading. What is acceptable and not acceptable? What does a high or low reading mean?

Never happened to me. Is this widespread in places?

Do they have long range rectal thermometers, too?Asking for a friend.

Seems asinine to still be doing the temp checks. Every single infected person I know didn’t run a temperature; almost all lost sense of taste & smell and had a cough tho.

All forehead thermometers are useless. When I get checked in at the hospital, they know it registers too low so they try to get me to make up my own higher temperature that sounds reasonable.

I get y’all don’t agree with some of the restrictions, and while I agree with that, this complaint is a little non-sense. Trying to claim science and wrong tools, etc.
The IR thermometers used are intended for measuring body temperature. They’re even idiot proof with sounds and color codes.
While checking temperature is not perfect, it does catch many people who claim to “feel fine”. Honestly the biggest issue is timing. Stand outside a business for 10 minutes in the sun and heat before they check your temp and it’ll read pretty high.

Something has to be done to make it look like something's being done.

when i went to a clinic back in march, i asked the lady that was taking temps at the door "what is the cutoff temperature for gaining entry"?
it was 104 F

I’m not a doctor and I’m no anti vaxxer close it down person either, but I’m calling BS that they are worthless. Do I think they are necessary? No.
Nobody gives a shite if they are 1 degree off, as said I’m guessing that they don’t even care if you are 100 and maybe 101. But I don’t think they are a completely worthless first gate to help ensure people are not sick.

I went somewhere the other day and the kid pointed the thing at my head ans said I was good.
I asked, "What's my temperature?". The response was "You're ok".
I again asked for the number to yank this kid's chain a bit. She replied "35". Upon hearing this I asked "What's normal?". She called for help...
I told her don't worry about it. This kid had no idea what a normal temperature should be and clearly had no concept of celsius vs fahrenheit.

considering how fast the teachers "shoot" the kids in our carpool line with those thermometers, I doubt they even turn them on or look at them
its just a show and everyone knows it
