A part of me gets it, but even in AP US history, we never got close to current days. Why are we trying to add on more stuff when we can’t even get through the current stuff

The 80s were nearly 40 years ago at this point. If you were in high school in the 80s and 90s you would have learned about cultural issues from the 50s and 60s.

I believe there is enough material that one could legitimately develop a college major or perhaps at least a specialized Master's degree based on the contributions of Christianity to society. Fascinating topic, actually, and one with a surprising amount of depth.
