New Interstate I-10 Bridge Groundbreaking

After reading the other I-10 Bridge Groundbreaking Thread I started this thread about the mess in Baton Rouge. The Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce as all Chambers of Commerce will oppose any arrangement bypassing Baton Rouge. Fu*k@um. There is no excuse for the mess that I-10 has become at BR.
If Kennedy and Letlow accomplish only one thing in their political careers it should be an end to the I-10 mess in BR.
At the Texas line install a parallel raised two span roadway next to the current I-10 right-of way, similar to current Atchafalaya swamp roadway to run by Lafayette and to Lobdell. There is no road base needed and I understand this is the cheapest and quickest road to put in. At Lobdell I-12 bound traffic and local BR traffic cross current bridge and I-10 Branches off to new I_10 Mississippi River Bridge south of Baton Rouge to cross river and tie into I-10 below BR.
Special spur from LSU to new bridge along or over River Road for traffic heading south on I-10 after games or heading West or North 1-10/I-49.
All raised spans for less cost and faster construction.

The Basin Bridge couldn't be built today due to vast amount of environmental studies you need now, versus back then. Hell, we can't even get new lanes added, much less building a whole new one (see also: Bonnet Carre).
The best option for Baton Rouge would have been a bridge between Addis/Brusly (crossing just below Farr Park), making a loop from the curve before Lobdell to the Livingston exit (where the hospital is). It would pull all the LSU/NO/Geismar/LaPlace/etc traffic from coming into BR while adding only an extra mile or 3 to traffic passing through the region.
It would also have made the Brusly/Plaq corridor no longer completely dependent on the Intracoastal.

You may want to Google this before suggesting a 200 mile raised segment of the interstate.
