Steelhead fishing from a Driftboat. Drift about 7 miles.

Only got to take 3 trips before the run was over but I'm prepared for the fall Salmon run now.

most of these things can be done daily as just "life" in general aka, not a hobby

Obviously, but when you start taking it more seriously like hitting 7 mile plus trails hiking, or taking day trips to hit multiple roasteries and/or breweries I'd consider it a hobby

I've been brewing beer for a few years now. Great way to kill a weekend. I carve and paint duck decoys, read, hunt, fish, and have a garden. I get bored easily so I always have to have something to do. I feel like my weekends are wasted if I sit around watching TV so I'm always pretty busy with something. Tigerdroppings is basically my smoke breaks at work. Oh...I went back to school as well.

I started playing tennis last year. Some friends & I found a beginner program & started taking lessons. Formed a team & began playing league shortly after. We play a minimum of twice a week, between practice & matches, but I have teammates who play 4-5 days a week. There are tons of opportunities (in BR, at least). It’s a great way to meet people and stay moderately active.

Train for a sprint triathlon. Much easier than you think. Swim 300 yards (about 6-8 mins), bike 8-12 miles, and run a 5k. Most areas have triathlon clubs that meet weekly and often cater to new members.

Local Audubon Society nearby? Partner that with photography and learn the local flora and fauna in your area. Merlin Bird app is a great app to help get started identifying birds in your area.

I got into photography a few years back and have really enjoyed it. Lately I've been thinking about drawing or painting.

Last August on a whim I signed up for an Improv class.

It was a BLAST. I've had so much fun that I'm sticking with it through all 5 levels of the class. Each level is 8 weeks, once per week, with a recital in front of a live audience at the end. I just started level 4.

The cool thing is, it's got practical uses. It's helped me with speaking in front of large groups at work, and the way it challenges you to think on your feet really helps grow your creativity.

My class is made up of regular shmucks like me, not aspiring comedians or actors. One is a lawyer who wanted to be better in front of the jury. Another is in HR for NASA. She wanted to be better at thinking on her feet in delicate conversations with employees.
