For those that don't know, Gobekli Tepe is a site in what is today Turkey. It is around 11,000 years old and is the oldest man made stone structure yet found in the world. After it was dated, everyone was surprised because no one expected humans in that era to be building structures like that.

Anyway, they just unearthed a new statue. The baw depicted in the statue is jerking off (yes really). It seems these ancient people were trolls. "Hey, Jim, just think in 13,000 years they are gonna dig up this site and find this statue of me jerking it."

They have done ground radar scans of the site and the radar shows that there is MUCH stuff still buried. They estimate we have only uncovered around 10% of the site.

Oh, and these ancient people were Arkansas fans as they seemed obsessed with the razorback hog:

Gobekli Tepe is a huge monkey wrench in our history. When you step outside of what schools continue to teach, there’s an amazing amount of questions.

To think man were dumb cave dwellers for thousands of years is a hard one for me to accept.

I saw that the other day, but it's at Karahantepe. It's the second junk-holding figure at that site. I guess they were into junk-holding.

They've done surveys of the region and have found over 500 new sites. Not enclosures, sites. If that's not a 'civilization,' I don't know what is.

The boar even is painted red, black, and white. And is the earliest example of pigments (ha, ha) on a statue.

The human statue is said to be even more rare with a human expression on its face. What the expression indicates isn't stated.

It needs to be investigated and preserved. Way too many questions and not enough answers about our past.

Truth be told, Elon probably should step in and fund this to keep governments out of it.

I am still of the opinion that humanity was more far along than originally believed until some cataclysmic event brought it all to a halt. It's no coincidence that just about every civilization, no matter where they are located in the world, has a Great Flood story.

So, 11,000 years of letting Hog fans down? Much worse than I thought.
