No six tail lights no care.

A lot of corvette owners are just like 911 owners. They hate the new corvette because it's not the old corvette. When they got rid of the flip up headlights, I thought there was going to be an all out riot

Most production Ferrari's use an aluminum spaceframe.

This is my issue with engineers. I've built tube frames for buggies with nothing more than a pencil and paper.
No modeling. No failures. And maybe 10% over use of materials.
It isn't rocket science.
Suspension and downforce is where wizardry comes into play.

If the car is warping due to torque I'm betting around a track it is going to be more than a handful. The rigidity probably isn't the best frame/body wise.

Agree. Frame flex and twist are nothing new to Corvettes. The first year C3 ('68) the frames flexed and twisted under acceleration. Frame gussets were added in 69 and the problem was cured. C4's with a new frame design experienced the same issues under loads. This is nothing new, they have been down this road before.

1000 HP with a rear wheel drive platform?
What kind of tires are you going to need to connect? The CTS-V blew the M5 away as far as HP, but loses to the current M5 0-60 because its not AWD.
Just wonder how this will play out for GM, I think its great they are taking a shot at the supercar market with this offering, but I'm a little skeptical of how it will land.

The last stingray (C7) was the most rigid chassis ever used on a corvette. Guess what all you know it alls...it was aluminum. And, to boot, the convertible chassis was stronger than any steel chassis hardtop 'vette ever made.
This "news" of the car twisting this chassis is a "subtle brag" (SWIDT?) to the output of the twin turbo 1000+ horsepower bolted behind the cockpit. It is the twin turbo V8 version they're driving that is distorting the chassis.
Oh, and all the supercar manufacturers were shaking in their boots at the last front engine 'vette. This one will shame them all when they shore it up.
Haters gonna hate.

They loved them and the wiper pop up door and fiber optics till they stopped working, then they cussed every GM engineer on the planet

It’s going to look terrible. Should have developed a new line under a new name if they wanted a mid-engined hypercar rather than morph the Vette. I’m not a fan of modern Vettes, they died after 69 in my eyes so I don’t really give a shyt. Just an observation and opinion..

Bingo. Just like the current vette, the torque is going to make the car slightly unsettled.
The Camaro has become a shockingly fun platform.
The turbo 1le is breathtakingly good.
And it's so cheap you can throw 10k at it to make it handle even better.

Not sure where you are getting this from. I've been around Corvettes for a long time and not afraid to point out deficiencies as well as the positive areas of the vehicles.

This is the 2nd delay of this car, right? Seems like it was supposed to make its debut at Paris late year to show up on Euro turf, but was already pushed to Detroit which it missed.
Haven't been on it as much since a thread I posted last year.
ETA: damn, apparently I posted that thread in September 2017.

Not many people cross shop a Vette and exotics.
I also wouldn't call it a subtle brag because I guarantee no Corvette engineers are happy about this. When major issue like this pop up on mules it is always a major time problem. Add to this issue the electrical problems they have been having and it just pushes the introduction back further.
The Corvette is a major engineering feat since it has to b cheap but put some serious numbers down to appeal to its fans, most of its competition doesn't have that constraint.

Why is that 737 in your graphic not on fire?
Posted on 3/13/19 at 5:02 pm to Airpower
Yep. Early C3's. Optics were used to monitor headlights, tail lights, license plate lamp and front signal lights.
