So you're older, and you made a decision on a car because of $100 donut that you probably can't put on (soon, if not now) without help, instead of a can of fix a flat or a AAA subscription. Or the roadside service that probably comes gratis with both vehicles for a few years.

I imagine that most "older" people have changed and can change a flat tire.

bmw i bought had run flats and no spare so i purchased the air compressor with slime and bought regular tires when it needed more. run flats ride like crap and willing to take chance that between air and slime i can fix tire when needed. if its a bad enough puncture run flats would be no help anyways. decided on this option after seeing tons of people on bimmer board discussing this problem.

My wife’s car didn’t come with a spare so I ordered the spare and jack kit online. I wasn’t comfortable with her breaking down in the middle of nowhere or at night.

If you expect her to be able to change it you should check the torque on the lug nuts. Maybe also add something to her trunk to use as a cheater pipe.

She could have a spare and the knowledge of how to change it but when some a-hole at the tire place uses an air gun to put them on at 3000 pounds of torque she will be screwed.

I had to change a flat on my wifes (no pics) Sequoia on the interstate one time and actually broke a stud off.

If no donut what will Altima drivers ride around on for 3 weeks after a flat tire?

Manufactures have been doing this for a while on sports cars, and cars with run flats. Factory figures they save money and you use fix a flat or tow under warranty. Once you out of warranty they don’t care. Vet’s, solstice, some BMW’s and high end cars. And many others over the years.

No shite sherlock, I'm sure they are all convinced they can bench 225 without having been in a gym for 15 years, too. I'm talking about the physical ability of large swathes of the older generations to actually be able to break a tight lugnut, jack the car up without having a heart attack, muscle a tire and full sized rim off of the lugnuts, etc.

couldn't tell you the last time I've had a flat, but I've got at least three different roadside protection plans, I ain't getting out there and changing no flat anymore
