The overwhelming majority of families in my area know three vacation destinations. Panama City Beach, Cancun, or a trashy cruise that stops in Cancun. Most of these people have never even heard of Naples much less a Grand Caymen or St Lucia.

You're not helping your cause, sir.

People aren't being beheaded with chainsaws or tossing grenades into packed bars in New Orleans or Detroit. If you can't understand the difference in cartel violence and local idiots gang banging then I'm not sure what to tell you

I didn't know this was ever up for debate, the government has never been able to do anything to prevent cartel violence.

Well it is up to debate because of the rampant corruption in Mexico.

Why don't you do the smart thing and go somewhere that's not in the middle of a civil war? Are you just trying to be exotic?

Cancun is safer than New Orleans

Either way you're dead. Just have a better shot at ending up that way in some us cities

I don't have a cause. It is the truth for most small towns in the Southeast from LA to TN.

True enough, but if I catch a random slug in the head, I have a much greater chance of dying without shitting myself...at my age...

Yes. There are things happening that make massive drug wars, cartel battles, mass shootings,

Gang, drug wars and mass shootings all happen in New Orleans.

Quintana Roo (The state Cancun is in) has 1.5 million people and averages around 160 murders a year. Right now it seems to be peaking. I'd go to other parts of Mexico If you play on visiting

Still laughing at the guy insinuating that Cancun is on par with PCB or something.

Stayed at the Mayakoba south of Cancun that had hosted Jessica Alba the week before and the PGA a month before that. Rooms started at like $600 and went up quickly from there. You literally had to take a boat to your villa over the water.

Are there trashy places in Cancun? Of course, that's true almost anywhere. But there are very nice places as well and I for one am very sad for everyone involved that cartel violence has found its way to that area.

My wife and I have vacationed the last few years in Playa, well, between Playa and Cancun, never even considered it not being 100% safe.

May rethink that.

Maybe I'm trashy and I don't recognize other trashiness, but a nice all-inclusive in Cancun is tough to beat for me.
