Headed to Isla Mujeres in 28 days and Cabo in October. Not worried one bit. Isla is perfectly safe. I just have to make it from the airport to the ferry.

Of course the resorts are nice and of course Mexico has nice beaches. So what? It's still third world. Even North Korea or Sudan has nice natural scenery. There is a civil war going on, and you're relying on some unwritten gentlemens agreement amongst the cartels that they'll leave tourists alone? If you have a medical emergency, you're fricked. If you have any unforeseen problems, you're fricked.

And it's odd to hear you adventurous baws pretend to be authorities on Mexico and act like Cancun isn't "real Mexico" when y'all just sit in a secure all-inclusive resort. Why don't you go for a cross country drive through Mexico and let me know how lovely it all is.
