So Mike lived openly for many years in the house at LSP, and we're just now complaining?

We need to audit the incompetent auditor.

Corruption is ok as long as the things they're stealing from are nice. Noted.

When did I say that?

And I hope you aren’t really trying to compare corruption in the 2 states

Interesting.

I don't think I was alone in my assessment of Edmonson's public persona. Judging from the comments in this thread, there are quite a few posters who have personal experience with the guy and know him better from first hand experience. However, I'd venture to say that most people in the state are like me and have only seen the guy on TV or read quotes in newspaper articles. In those forums, he always appeared to be intelligent and articulate. He seemed to be a calm, level headed professional lawman. He just didn't seem like a scummy guy to me. Obviously, in light of recent disclosures, it appears that I was mistaken.

My friend has been with LSP for about 25 years. He's one of the most honest people I know. As I stated in my previous post, if his name comes up as being involved in this kind of shite I'll be stunned.

So his troopers were his wife's personal Uber drivers?

Seriously, I assume everyone who has any type of top position for the state abuses their power. It's just a matter of someone having something to gain by exposing them.

My biggest shock was that at no point did the moral compass alarm go off for anyone involved in this. Dude lived there for 9 years and no one said a word.

No one that wanted to keep their job, normally honest, and moral people often find ways to rationalize something when it threatens the way of life they and possibly their family have become accustom to.

If he was doing this, go check the contracts and look for sweetheart deals.

Here is one of the reasons the La.St.Police endorsed a political candidate for governor for the first time ever. It was the Association but same animal, different name, make no mistake about it. And that their endorsement went to JBE is both no coincidence or joking matter.

Oh bullshite. It was no secret he was living there. A phone call to the Advocate would've worked if someone was truly outraged.

How were people suppposed to know that arrangement was improper?

I don't know that it was improper, but if no one was allowed to live there, someone should have pointed it out. It's not like he's some squatter in Rio de Janeiro.

I think you're missing the point...

quote:

The auditors determined that Edmonson moved his family into the DPS compound "without legal authority," and that he had the state pick up his utilities, including cable television and electricity.

quote:

The compund was built in 2002 and originally intended to house the governor and State Police superintendent during emergency situations.

quote:

the Edmonsons had the residence modified to construct a shoe closet for Edmonson's wife. The auditors noted that Edmonson's use of the residence — at an estimated value of $434,720 from February 2008 to March 2017 — was not included as a fringe benefit on his W-2.

The head of the New Orleans FBI field office said in an interview before he left that the biggest problem facing Louisiana is public corruption. Makes sense.

Right after a field agent left a 30 page memo accusing the Justice Department of corruption.

Someone should do a thread on that memo. I read it and there are some bombshells in that thing. Funny that no one wants to talk about it. Just shows that the whole criminal justice system from cops and DA’s to defense attorneys and prisons are all really in it together. No one wants to rock the boat that much.

I'm not defending it but it doesn't look like the auditor's office knows that arrangement was improper. Well I think they've pointed out improper, but illegal seems to be grey concerning his housing.

The follow up to his say..."unique" housing situation, would be, what if anything, did he do with his EXISTING home ? IF he leased/rented it out......?
