Driving into BR from Houston tomorrow. Have they begun that new program to enforce speeding on the Basin Bridge? Read about it here in the OT a few months ago but can't find the post.

No, and it will likely never happen.

No. Some a-hole trucker will be in the left lane driving slow so the speed limit is de facto enforced. You’re good.

Why not be safe and observe the speed limit?

Don’t blame them, blame DOT regs and liability attorneys more or less forcing most trucking companies to have speed limiters. Any time you see an O/O baw in a mac’d out Kenworth he’s always doing 85

Or, you know, they could just stay in the right lane and not try to pass since they can’t really do so without fricking over everyone else.

Because only in Louisiana do we have a straight road with a speed limit of 60. I drove a 2 lane blacktop in Texas last week with curves that had a speed limit of 75.

Probably best to just stay in Houston and watch LSU lose from the comfort of your own home than traveling to shitty BR

The enhanced fines are in place. If you are stopped by an officer you will pay a significantly higher ticket.

A contract will go out later this year for speed monitors warning you of excessive speed on the basin bridge.

After that is in place bids will be accepted for the actual cameras. You looking at probably 18-24 months.

And the one they're passing could slow the frick down for a few seconds to allow for a quicker transition so they aren't a rolling roadblock for three fricking miles.

Higher fines don't start until you hit 90 mph. You good.

Take 190. Less chance of being trapped on the bridge for a few hours. It's worth the extra 15 to 20 minutes if you aren't in a hurry. Just watch out in Livonia, Krotz Springs, and Port Barre for the Po Po.

Haven't driven it in a week. But at that time I thought the right lane only for trucks was in full force. None in the left lane east or west bound. Traffic was moving nicely. Imagine that. Problem solved

Don’t speed and you don’t have to worry.
