Amazon has signed a lease for a new delivery facility that has been under construction near Siegen Lane, the company said in a statement Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The new facility is located behind the Bethany Church crosses along I-10, near Siegen Lane.

WAFB’s Austin Kemker reported construction began on a warehouse at the site on March 10.

The new station will increase the speed of deliveries for customers in the Baton Rouge metro area, according to Amazon.

The new facility will also create hundreds of full-time and part-time jobs, paying a minimum of $15 per hour and offer a variety of benefits packages, the company says.

Great news for the future city!

Wasn’t Amazon supposed to buy Cortana Mall? What happened to that deal?

They're still working on it I guess. I want to say that this is replacing the tent structure near Costco on Airline.

Cortana Mall

Had to go to Office Depot there today. Nature is reclaiming that lot. Looks like it hasn’t seen a mower in months.

The new facility is literally on the I-10 service road(Reiger). Go ahead and call it a service road because The Pecue@I-10 interchange are being built as we frick around on the OT.

Well that’s gonna put Gravy in a conundrum. Who is racist Amazon or Dilliards for stifling economic development in North Baton Rouge.

Dillards tried to play hard ball and the deal fell apart. Costed the city of BR a regional fulfillment center.

This delivery facility is smaller than a fulfillment center, but is still great news for the new city and EBR parish as a whole. Will bring hundreds of full and part-time jobs to St. George, all of which pay at least $15 an hour.

The Cortana one was going to be much bigger and a regional facility. I think that possibility is about gone though unless Dillards is just trying to rake them over the coals.

You know Bethany gave them a sweet deal with all that unused land behind them three big arse Crosses. And the timing was perfect for I-10 Access.
