Correct, looks like a small 737. The approach pattern is right over my house, but they look like a 737 at 4000 feet.

A much more comfortable jet to fly in vs a CRJ 200 or 700

It is still incredibly quick. I flew to Houston around Christmas and I doubt it was more than a 5 minute process from walking in to sitting at the gate.

Depends on the crew working security and number of flights leaving in close proximity to one another. I've stood in line for 30-40 minutes and barely made it on my flight. Yes in the Lafayette Airport, 30-40 minutes for "security". Sufficed to say every baw in that line was letting the TSA agents know exactly what we thought about them.

AA has one flight with a 717 too. And United/Continental has what looks like a 737?

AA does not fly any MD80 or 717 to LFT.

AA flys the CR9 through a regional partner and United flys an E170/175 through a regional partner as well.

Those E175s are actually nice. Fly like a larger plane

Delta is the only airline that has regularly flown a mainline jet (717) to LFT over the past 5 years.

The E-170/175's operated by United Express are a real nice plane, much better than the comparable CRJ-900s others operate.

The two class regional jets have been a boon for small airport like LFT, but they have come with a reduction in flights. Airlines have maintained or slightly grown the number of seats in the market, but they are able to do it with fewer flights (known as up-gauging). It is a boon to unit costs and makes the flying more profitable.

ERJ170 Cabin is nice and roomy. Seating is 2/2. To hell with CRJ’s. You can’t breathe in them.

And for anyone wondering:
United- Embraer 170, 145, 135 to Houston
American- Embraer 145 and CRJ900 to Dallas
Delta- 717 and CRJ200 to ATL

That’s it as of now. Delta is the only mainline carrier the rest are regionals.

Janky is there any amount of savings that you'd drive to msy for? For me it's often about 100-150 per ticket more out of lft but I'm 30 minutes from home when I land in lft.

Well, I travel with a family of 4 with kids 9&6. So, I guess if I could net $500 in savings after parking and hotel I would consider it. I really hate driving so it would take a lot.

And re: security, it's way worse for the 6am flights. Dtr was going to dca and we got there at 445 and to security shortly thereafter. She was in line but not to where the old restaurant was. Not long after we got there, the line was down to the old restaurant area, down the short side to the back wall and the along the back wall (parallel to the main line) nearly all the way down. They held her plane for the many on the flight who were still in line. Not long but they did hold it. The process seemingly was moving slow but it is what it is and there's only one scanner.

Went to pick her up 6ish in the evening and not a soul was around but I'm not sure of the evening flight schedule.

I want to go to NYC and found tickets for 250 or so out of msy with a departure and return time that wouldn't require a hotel. X2 (husband) we'd save about $400 or more (NYC tickets out of lft are beyond pricey). But I hate driving as well.

I would do that. It is the whole kid thing that does it for me. Hell $400 is an appetizer in NYC. Kidding of course, a couple of drinks as well.

Key word is I want to go --- Eagles concert and Eric Clapton are a day apart. My music choices may deem me old. Lol.

We have been to Disney, Destin and next week 30A. Enough trips for me this year.

Btw, my trip schedules are so OT trashy.

ETA: yes, I have truck nuts and the 30A sticker.
