We had FKing in charge for way longer than we should have. He went out of his way to recruit students and faculty aligned with his far left agenda. His departure was way overdue. And we are in year 5 of a very liberal governor. Not a good combination.

My son is at LSU now and is majoring in political science then will attend law school with aspirations of getting into politics. He is a conservative and has been ridiculed each semester so far for being consecutive.

No wonder. He should attend only every other semester.

Universities are the perfect microcosm representation of society at large and the Silent Majority. The tiny vocal majority has an outsized voice because the vast majority is too busy living life. When I was there we had an enrollment of 30,000. Yet every time I stopped in to laugh at Free Speech Alley or a SGA event, I realized it was the same cast of less than 100 characters making noise. But if you were to listen to this tiny group you were to believe that the school had all kinds of fringe beliefs. Then I would leave the side show and go to class and Murphy’s with all the normal people.

How would anyone know this?
I was hoping for an answer from Tunasntigers. Surely he didn't ask for a copy of your actual mail-in ballot? How does someone prove that they voted to a 3rd party?

I’m “down with the movement” to a point. If they want to have a conversation about what we can do to hold police and our current system accountable for their failings, that’s a great conversation to have. If they want to talk about to have more educated people in the black community, that’s great. I have no problem with doing things that help other people. However, I’m not going to get on my knees and polish your knob with my “white guilt.” I’m not going to pay reparations for crimes that I didn’t do. The part of the movement that wants to belittle me and destroy what little I have can frick off.

tell him to stay strong. there’s a voting base out there silently waiting for politicians with conservative beliefs, morals, and common sense.

LSU is full of the silent majority type. They DGAF enough to try to convince those lunatics they are going about things in the wrong way. We’d rather chase tail and drink beer than waste type with the weird looking hair who don’t use deodorant.

As far as social media is concerned, I don’t participate. They tried silencing my statements and finally I said I’m done. So I’m sure there are tons of people just like me. Either they don’t want their lives ruined by the social mob or if they do voice their conservative opinion it is shadowbanned or outright removed from the platform.

I'd estimate of the graduates most fall toward liberal side, whereas the majority or conservatives here on this board never went to college.

Idk if LSU is any different from any other large campus. Most all of them are full of liberal professors. I just kept quiet and graduated and got away from them.

That's what I did in the 1980s at my undergrad. :(
In the mid 1990s to late 1990s when I was in library school at LSU...now THERE'S a profession with looney tunes...I had a professor I liked, he had been in real business, but still was mostly liberal from Cali.

He half lamented and half laughed over that fact that daily attendance at LSU dropped by 50% on the opening days of deer and duck season.

I made the mistake of taking African American history as my last elective, it was a black guy who got his doctorate from the University of Chicago, the picture on his office door was Malcom X, he went over and over why LSU was the most racist University in the south, our final grade was a letter point and a half higher if we showed we voted, I didn't commute so I voted by mail, I was the only student in the entire class who voted Trump, he wrote a note on my transcript thanking me for not being afraid to show what I believed in, I will never forget that man

That is how a true academic/intellectual should act.

Have a position, but be able to support it with facts and be able to present it in a civil and coherent manner.

Sadly, so few do these days.

You would be wrong. In my everyday interactions with people that I know their political leanings, it is the exact opposite nearly every time.
