Because it is following the exact same trend as Transgenderism. The Trans movement was a fringe movement that slowly began to be supported by elements in academia and vocal Leftist advocates. Then the narratives began mainstreaming until you are officially a bigot for not wanting your 5 year old to be indoctrinated by it.

Pedophiles are now where trans people were 10 years ago. Burgeoning movement to accept it, slowly being codified by the "deconstructionist" Left.

So, imo “normalizing” is different than “forcing beliefs”. Doing these things is everyone’s choice. As….odd as some of that seems, hey, you do you.

But the aspect of teaching these things to young children, yes. I don’t think that needs to be in public schools. At some point it becomes political and not relevant to curriculum. So yes, I’m all for fighting against that.

There’s an argument to be made that some people just want the world to see that what they are is normal. However, that doesn’t give you the right to force that normalcy on someone else. Especially children in a public school. And I can understand the fear the right has about certain lines being crossed.

The problem with the story time thing is, you can’t control how someone wants to present themselves. As long as they’re not breaking the law. So being a certain way is not necessarily teaching. That’s where I see a lot of concerns on the left. They feel as though they’re not able to present themselves as they are. As long as the subject matter of the story is something you’d be ok with otherwise, you just have to let people be themselves.

Just know that there are people out there who want to be themselves but not force what they are on other people. Especially children.

I have to defend freedom of personal expression as long as it’s within the law.

I do not support teachers “instilling their own values”. I just think the definition of that term can not include visual expression. As long as that visual expression is within the law. And it’s understandable that some people find a man who dresses as a woman concerning to what they are “instilling” in children. I just think the lines of what’s vulgar and not vulgar are blurry. What’s “making a public statement” vs just being yourself.

And that line may never be clear for everyone. And that’s disappointing. Again, just know that just because someone has a different understanding of what those things entail, that doesn’t mean they are a pedophile. It could just mean they like to wear makeup, wear dresses, and talk with a higher pitch.

I'd think of it as about 1% of the people on the left who assume anyone right of AOC is a racist.
