Since when having video of people potentially doing harm to your property or stealing items that aren't theirs is considered a bad thing?

Good neighborhoods can and will attract people from the outside who don't live there. Don't believe me? See Halloween as an example.

Whatever you decide hardwire it, we decided to throw a ring in garage and battery lasts about a week and kind of a pain in the arse to take off.
Nest at front door works well.

How about maintaining a little bit of disconnect in your life and don’t install any kind of smart doorbell? Honestly, what do you need it for? Does your neighborhood have a problem with armed gangs posing as Sunflower Girls selling cookies door to door? Do you really need to know the exact second a delivery is left at your door? Don’t fall for the paranoia - no one’s scoping your house out to steal your kids. What kind of a narcissistic society do we live in?

If you use Alexa, ring. If you use Google home, nest.

I have the SimpliSafe security system and pay for the monthly monitoring because I was afraid of what hackers could do. Your experience justifies the use of monitoring. They have a great doorbell, btw.

A resident of Jackson, MS calling someone else a dumbass?

You should be asking for advice between U-Haul and Ryder.

Nest. There is less latency. The ring is really delayed and the video quality is not as good.

The nest just looks more stylish and I like the integrated Google home app with all the controls for all of your connected devices.

Pretty much our entire neighborhood has Ring doorbells cams, and anytime there’s a crime in the neighborhood, everyone just has footage of the suspect’s feet leaving the frame.

Gotta love the latency.

For those with the Ring doorbell that have the issue with the app taking forever to load, get the “Rapid Ring” app if you haven’t already. It loads much quicker (when it doesn’t crash).

The app is from Ring, not a third party, so you don’t have to worry about the extra vulnerability. Although that does show just how shitty Ring is when they develop an entirely new, pared down app just so one of the major functionalities of the system works properly. And now you have two Ring apps on your phone.

Thankfully, I’m renting, so I appreciate the experience.

Nest doorbell is $150 here with at least $30 back in kohls cash.

Nest Hub is $50 here and when someone is at the door it will show up on screen as well as phones.
