Paintball gun.
With frozen balls. It will discourage bad behavior. And flat out kill a squirrel.

Either put it up where he cant get on it but the pits will, or turn it down and let yours learn the same way. It won't take but once, and it may save their life.
Think of it like the N/S Korea DMZ: It's no man's land.
Or, you can always just shoot the ravenous sons a bitches when they come under the fence.

It would suck if those dogs ate something that would kill them.

Gotta be something like a steel plate or something that you can bury 6 inches into the ground using a pickaxe or shovel that will reinforce the fence on your side.

did you know grapes are extremely poisonous to dogs?

If they are just trying to come through in one spot, dig a 4" trench under the fence, about 1 foot deep. Put some hog wire in the trench. Nail it to the fence. now fill the trench with Quickrete. The hog wire will keep them from coming through the fence. The Quickrete will keep them from coming under.
Did this when I had my husky while living in Kentucky. Worked perfectly. He chose to climb over the fence instead of digging under.

I used https://digdefence.com/ but it was not for a pitbull.

Tell the neighbor handle up or you’re gonna have to put that dog down

I was looking forward to the update of him confronting the neighbors again.

Put an electric wire around the bottom of the fence.

The pit owners really need to create another fence that is set in from your fence. If they really cared about their dogs, that's what they'd do.
They'd set it about 3 feet in from the existing fence, of not further. Are they trying to get out on other sides of their yard? If not, then it is just the curiosity to your gf's dogs.
But, typical pit owners are for shite and I'm surprised they didn't complain to you about your requests to them.

Girl at work talks about her damn pit like it’s a child all day. I don’t see the appeal to those mutts. German Shepards are much better and not trashy.

Pepper spray the frick out the dog a few times and the dog will stop.

Agreed!
It's not your responsibility to keep your neighbor's dogs off your property. It is theirs.
No way am I doing all this elaborate fence building to keep the neighbor's dog out of my yard and kept from attacking my family and pets. I'd just let the neighbor know that the second it breaches my line, it is dead. Let them worry about keep their stupid dog in their yard.

Felt obligated to update. My interaction with my neighbor went far better than I’d expected. I went to Home Depot after work and picked up some chain link. I’m going to dig in on my side, and run it up my side of the fence about 4 feet. My girlfriend hates the idea, but will compromise for the dogs (I’m totally laid tonight).
My talk with the neighbor was great. I explained to her what happened. She tried to pass it off as “trying to play. She’s not aggressive” I shut that shite down. I told her, as nicely and as sternly as I could, that if her dog ever got a snout in my yard again, I would hurt it. She said she completely understood, and it would be fixed today. It’s 9:15ish, and they have built a fence inside their yard (about 3 feet tall, about 8 inches from the fence separating our yard). She assured me it won’t be a problem again, and I believe her.
Edit: thank you everyone for your suggestions, as well as understanding from a lot of you. I was livid after my girlfriend called me when the incident first occurred today. But the OT actually calmed me down a little. Thanks guys, truly.

Everyone brings up antifreeze. Use xylitol (sugar substitute). It’s a wrecking machine.
PS. Good luck with the pits. U can bet something will happen. They’ll get out one day. Sorry

Wow. That’s awesome - immediate response.
Sounds like a best case scenario for everybody.
Good on you for handling it the way you did.
