The guy isn’t well loved by any neighbors. I called the city. They said they’d handle it. I’m frankly not comfortable going shut off his water on the off chance he’s holed up in there for some reason

Golden Rule.

If you don't know how to cut his water off, contact the water board.

Even in disfunctional NOLA, they will and do come out to cut it off. Two reasons: to protect the house from a total flood, and even more, to maintain water pressure in case of an emergency (Like a fire at your house.)

Wouldn’t it be more appropriate to pipe his wife?

Turn off the water at the meter or as it enters the house

Just pruning up in the flood waiting to shoot the person the stops it?

Seriously, what narrative scares you here?

Ehhh, the police are at his house constantly for either endangering his young family or rounding up his breed of peace. I keep my distance. The city just shut the water off. Merry Christmas

Good neighbors or not, I can’t believe you don’t have his phone number , but yeah if you feel safe enough to go ring his door bell than the next thing to do would be shut off the main, it is a shame you let it go that long, my neighbor would of had it fixed before I ever got home

Did you really need the OT to tell you to shut it off at the street or contact the water district? If so god help you.

I felt better having someone else come shut it off due to this guys history.

We noticed it while getting ready to head out to do family Christmas all day this morning. He works nights and doesn’t lead the best lifestyle so we thought he may just be sleeping. I made the thread and call to the city when we got back home for the first time all day and saw the amount of water everywhere. Not sure we will be able to get my wife’s car out of our driveway tomorrow at this point. It’s on a slope and 75% of it is covered in water right now.
