The thing it seems people don’t realize is the BASS is the worst. Just turn down the damn bass and the other music and crowd noise can be not as bad and drowned out by white noise. But the bass rattling the damn windows can’t just be ignored.

The only thing the cops ever ran us off for was shooting fireworks.

It's 1:00 eastern here. Just called them. Tired of the loud music. I feel like they got an extra hour. Midnight is plenty reasonable in a neighborhood.

Nice little place you got there. Be a shame if something happened to it.

No. Didn’t call cops. Where I live the breaker boxes are outside the house on the side. Dressed in black and snuck over, flipped breakers, snuck back. It took the momentum out of the party. They figured it out after 20 minutes but the vibe was gone and it flamed out. I wouldn’t have done it, but the base boom was awful.

Do you realize how incredibly stupid this was?

I’ve been at many that had the cops called, but there was one that stood out.

The cops didn’t come in lights-flashing/sirens blaring and try to scatter the party. They casually walked in and cut the music. And they asked for each designated driver to raise their hand. Then they made each driver match up with who they are driving. After we demonstrated every drinker had a driver, they left. This was well before Uber existed. I always thought those cops handled it well. (And, of course, it tamed the party down)

I called the cops once because a party upstairs at the apartments I was staying in was dropping beer bottles off the balcony and onto the sidewalk in front of my apartment at about 2 am. I figured it best if I didn't confront people who were doing stuff like that.

I've had the cops called on me many times for doing much less at a house party, just being loud I guess.

I've never called the cops

I had the cops called on me all the time in the 90s when having band practice

I didn't have to call cops on the asshats next door with their middle of the week swim parties with a band. The old lady on their other side had a son in BRPD, that shut things down by 10PM. It all ended when they decided to pump the pool out for skateboarding, that pool came out of the ground about 2', no more parties.

It’s done by neighbors who are trying to sleep but don’t want to be confrontational, or blamed, so they have the cops do it.

I've been arrested twice for party related issues. Extreme disturbing the peace.

I used to be a neighbor from hell. Fine college kids in a nice big house throwing huge parties.

One year I decided to try and top the Carlotta street party.
Went out and got 5 kegs, two port o let's. Catering, and had parking set up .

We were doing fine. No complaints. Then a shite ton of Southern students showed up from a nearby AA club on Nicholson and it got out of hand.

Police raided us. My roommates at this time were on LSD so I took the fall.

I had 4 other citations for parties. But they actually booked me for this one.

Had a good bit of charges. Property damage, disturbing the peace, fire ordinance violation. Refusing lawful orders. And the big one. Providing minors with alcohol.

It's cool that decades later I'll see some random person and they will talk about that party or another party.

The house we rented had a 1,200 square foot indoor half court with 15' ceilings. We had a band stage installed. 15 tvs throught the yard and house. Men's and women's port o let. We had a trash band and a nu metal band play. Also charged $5 a head to get in with unlimited beer.
We had A place in tigerland deliver two more kegs.
Halloween 2001 was lit.

Both ways. My first Dead party; which was followed by return of the Dead and Dead final chapter; the cops knocked on my front door. I am dressed in a yankee uniform with an arrow thru my head. "Sir, can we see an ID". I said sure and went to get my drivers license. As I walked off, I looked over my shoulder and said keg is out back. They did not take it well. It was a noise complaint but it was bogus. They sat in their car over an hour to make sure.

Had a house next door to a former LSU player who was in the NFL. He leased his house to a group of frats. They rented the house out for a new year's eve party. They set of bombs that rattled my walls. I walked over and asked them to quit the explosions. The response was FU. Call to the police and they came to my front door. Said nothing they could do but then the neighbors set off another explosion. Many cop cars showed up and shut the party down.

Side note, when the owner evicted his last renters. the renters stole his AC compressor.

What WOULD make you call the cops?
Party host not knowing how to lower the noise at a decent hour. I shouldn’t have to be kept up until 2am or having a child that keeps being woken up because neighbors want to blare music and have guests yelling outside when everyone else is trying to sleep.

I called a couple times on the house behind me in my old neighborhood. They had a pool and their teenage son started throwing parties in their backyard. Loud music and drunk teenagers outside until 1 or 2 in the morning. Let it slide the first time, but called the cops when they were partying and loud past 11pm a week or 2 later. Then a couple weeks later, another loud party late at night and I called on them again. After around the 3rd or 4th different party the cops had to come out for, they finally got the hint (or a noise ordinance ticket) and stopped having parties outside late at night

The respect that is showed in informing(and/or inviting me, even if they know I may not come) is generally enough of a currency for me to give a generous leeway.

I would always speak with the homeowners first before calling the cops.

Unless you are already on bad terms with a neighbor from past bad relations, you shouldn’t jump to calling the cops.

That’s a bitch move.
