Exactly. The guy had time to go inside, grab a gun, walk back outside and shoot the dog. The issue could ha e simply been resolved with a phone call to animal control. The girlfriend would have had to deal with far less than a dead pet. I honestly feel bad for the neighbors son, terrible role model of a father.
Animal control (assuming there is one) - 15 min, .357 - less than a min. I'm shooting AND teaching my son how to be a man and protect what is his. The frickin cops would get there first, Problem solved.

I hope you're trolling because if not I feel bad for your son as well.

You can stay out in the sticks then.
I have no problem defending what's mine. But I would have brought my son and dog inside, then called authorities.
Shooting first and asking questions later doesn't make you a man.
we really don't know the exact situation though.

Is this the play by play?
1. Strange dog comes into yard.
2. Dog growls at kid.
3. Father either goes inside to grab gun or already has gun outside?
4. Father shoots dog.
Did he already have the gun or did he have to go inside? Seems like if his reason was the dog threatened his kid he could have brought his kid inside.
eta: already been brought up.

Since he admitted shooting the dog, I'd take his picture and post flyers all over the area stating what he did. May not be much but at least everyone will know what dick weed he is.
Sounds like harassment.

It sounds like we have one side of the story, hard to determine what really happened without hearing both sides of the story. Somewhere in the middle you can find the truth

Police 5-10 minutes, My gun- less than a minute. So if someone shoots you in retaliation/protection are they being a man as well?
What a stupid fricking lunatic you are.

It's not even clear legally. Both dogs were out without a leash it sounds like.
Dog owners are assholes though. So many of them think that just because they believe their dog is friendly it's okay to let them run around their neighborhood without a leash.
frick a dog that growls at me on my property, and frick the owner too.

You have no idea what you're talking about. In your world people are all letting their dogs roam the neighborhoods.....that simply isn't happening.

Correct death valley. My dog is very nice and extremely playful but I understand some people are afraid of him since he's large. If he's outside of a fenced area, he's on a leash. There are such things as responsible pet owners, just like responsible gun owners. Looks like we had neither in this instance.
