That would be the best way to toss it back at the guy.

Honestly if my neighbor asked me such a ridiculous request I would have laughed in his face and said “You almost got me on that one John, for a second there I thought you were serious.” Then I would have walked off laughing at his “joke”, never giving him an opportunity to retort.

I really don’t know how some of y’all make it through day-to-day life. This “situation” is ridiculously easy to handle.

Figure how much it will cost to fix your lawn and ask for a check for that amount. Screw having his contractor fix it. It is your lawn so you get to determine who fixes it.

He is getting 30 yds of concrete poured for a new driveway section to his backyard.

That's a pretty damn big "section" of driveway.

That's at least 3 trucks, probably 4 going thru your yard.

Not as hard as his driveway.

Sounds like an easily resolved situation, to me.

Tell him to use his driveway and have the contractor fix any damage done.

The cement contractor will "fix it".

Man they'll say that then never show back up. Good luck with that.

I had a few loads of fill delivered to a property I once owned and it was delivered in a 12 yd. dump truck and the driver WOULD NOT even drive across the curb,

Because they have been sued in the past for breaking driveways and curbs.

I doubt the concrete plant that the contractor is getting supplied by will drive on the guys driveway no matter what he says.

Tell him that they have to use heavy duty truck mats so your yard doesn't get messed up.

So he wants you to take a hit on your yard so that he doesn’t possibly take a hit on his driveway?

Hell no.

Yeh, IF I agreed to his BS, part of the deal would be that BEFORE the first truck goes thru my yard, there will be a dump truck with a load of top soil and a SMALL loader there ready to start repairing after the last truck goes thru.

Exactly, since they know in all likelihood that driveway will crumble like a house of cards.

Tell him to tell his contractor to use a pump truck.

Renting a concrete pump truck will be cheaper likely than re-sodding a front yard.

Exactly. A "good neighbor" doesn't ask things like that.

I was just say I would rather remain friendly neighbors and not have a heavy truck on my property.

Sounds like you've already decided to let him do this. I think you're going to be fine, but seriously, make him fork over the $3k, and make him pay to repair. When it's to your satisfaction, give him his $3k back. Keep it friendly, but just make it a "business decision".

I’d have no hesitation telling the neighbor no. Nothing pisses me off more than ruts, holes in my property when I’m mowing. Your neighbors sounds like a selfish dick which means he isn’t worth worrying about as a neighbor.
