I have a neighbor that I am pretty good friends with. He is getting 30 yds of concrete poured for a new driveway section to his backyard. He has asked if the trucks could pass through my front yard to avoid going over his current driveway and possibly cracking it.

My yard got pretty messed up after the hurricanes but is now starting to come back together even though the grass is not there it is regradedd, aerated, and ready to seed which I am doing in the next week or so.

The yard is pretty hard currently and he says the contractor will fix any ruts. Even so I am really not comfortable with it and have told my neighbor as much but he continues to push the issue like I'm being unreasonable. He's not using the concrete buggy because there are none to rent for the weekend and he wants it done saturday.

No way I would let him do it. The contractor will fix the ruts when exactly? We have more rain coming this weekend I think. Your yard will be a damn mess.

He asked and you said no. You don’t need a reason to say no but you do have one. He shouldn’t be pushing it and is a bad neighbor if he keeps asking.

Your neighbor sounds like a self-centered jackass.

Had something similar happen to me and when I asked if the neighbor was going to take care of damages he said, "It's been dry for a while." Told him it was a no. You agree to doing this and you will regret it. Its not like he's bringing a golf cart or atv into your yard. Just the empty truck is between 20000-30000 pounds.

So your options are:
1. Definitely messing up your yard
2. Possibly messing up his driveway

No way.

And if the contractor will definitely fix your yard why wouldn’t they fix his driveway? I mean, they are pouring another, surely they could fix the current one if they mess it up.

Tell him to go rent a tractor with a front end loader or a bobcat.

If it were me at my farm house in the country, I'd say go for it. It would take me no time to fix ruts with my tractor and we all help each other out.

I guess if you live in a subdivision with manicured lawns, I guess it would be an issue.

If I ask someone a favor and they display any hesitation, I back off. Acting like you’re unreasonable is a selfish behavior on his part. frick him.

I honestly don't know what this means.

I appreciate the responses here cause I was starting to wonder if maybe I was being unreasonable. Frankly I'm fairly annoyed right now that it boils down to him wanting to risk my yard vs wait until the concrete buggies are available.

Had a similar situation with my neighbor wanting to use my driveway to access a project in his back yard, he was just adamant they were going to do it bc it was closer I finally just had to be frank with him and say “let me be clear, I’m not participating in your construction project sorry but you need to find another option”

They’ll never fix your yard the way it is now or the way you want it and you’ll always be pissed about it

Have your neighbor sign a contract to have your yard repaired and resodded....his opinion may change.
