It's hard to get used to, and I'm not there because I rarely drive my wives car and when I do it's usually in self drive most of the time.

But what might be more terrifying, is how it deprograms them. Just 20 minutes ago, I had my wife driving my GX back home so I could get on a call. She was about to coast right into someone then had to slam on the brakes. She's just not used to having to hit a brake pedal anymore.

As weird as it is, I wouldn't want to be invested in a big brake pad company right now.

I never considered that angle. That's kind of terrifying.

I was worried about the changes to the Tesla. Not the reverting back to a regular car. Damn it.

It just takes her a few to get back into it. It’s a good excuse to keep her car hers and mine to myself

They're great. The only con is for road trips and if you wreck it or get a flat. Daily driving and maintenance is extremely enjoyable. It charges at home while I sleep. The brakes last a crazy long time because they're regen. No oil changes, no transmission, and most importantly, no more stops at Baton Rouge gas stations.

Couple of main reasons why I would never go back to gas for my work car:

My company pays me $275 tax free more on my monthly car package for having electric vs gas.

My company has my car on their insurance

Can’t get this kind of performance out of a gasser without having to pay at least 20% of the gas out of pocket because it doesn’t meet the EPA requirements my company has. Not to mention the price for a mid 11 second sedan is going to be over 100k.

So, want to tell us how the fricking tesla is? Sounds like you just want us to beat off to your company

IDK why everyone in Nola isn't buying one to avoid getting carjacked.

eta: and make sure you can afford to buy the $50k+ Tesla outright and be able to take the hit on depreciation

Because only electric vehicles depreciate of course

That would actually be a good marketing strategy for a dealer looking to sell EVs. Unfortunately, the things sell themselves.

Only reason I bought it is because I got the extra money and didn’t have to pay the extra on insurance. I was dead set on Genesis G70 with the 3.3T until I found out I’d get the extra money and wouldn’t have to keep track of gas receipts anymore. Plus the 3.3T I would have had to pay 20% of my fuel so it was a no brainer. The Tesla has enough juice to do what I need to do every day without ever having to go to a super charger.

Heated seats work really well, sound system is great, front truck really comes in handy for storing things. They also have space below the mat in the trunk that you can store stuff. With the extra storage I no longer keep anything work related visible in my rear trunk which is nice. Another perk of having a EV is parking at Nola airport you get some of the best spots and you can charge your car for free.

Tesla also has updates to the car so the Tech is always improving.

Did your company reimburse you for the charger or anything? Pay for the electrical usage? Or just the monthly stipend covers it? Curious because I’m working on an EV deployment plan and really trying to figure out the home charging for company owned vehicles.

I think part of the extra $275 a month is to cover the electric but it’s way less than that. For me it’s a wash because I was paying 15% of my fuel because my G37 didn’t get 22 MPG City. If I had to guess me charging my car every night is less than $75 per month. They do not offer anything for setting up the charger at home but mine was $400 for the charger and I paid an electrician $300 to install it.

The install was so cheap because one of my electric panels was in the garage so he came right out of the panel and set the charger.

Oh yeah. For those who charge at home with the home charger that uses a 220v. Any pain noticed with electric bills post Tesla?

Thanks that’s the way I read it but wanted to check. I’m getting several hundred EV trucks to deploy next year and need to figure out how we’re going to compensate people.

$8 per 20-80% charge for my wife. Which is about every 10 days.
That’s in Houston.

At her ranch where I have a balling solar setup it’s basically free and now I can back feed to power the houses. Not that I need to, but I did it and it works.

Tesla is a divisive topic

Just remember that Elon is based af and you are probably too stupid to criticize him for anything he does, says or thinks. But do keep in mind that EVs are the dumbest invention of the last century and anyone who thinks they are the future is a fricking retard and/or evil globalist.

We have 2 M3 & MY both performance. My friend has X and S. They are life changing!! I never worry about fuel charging for us is free because where I live charging is free. At your home have electric company change your rate for EV and charge up while you sleep (my friend does this and pay $6 a month additional on his electric bill. LET THAT SINK IN! The ride and technology is awesome nothing compares. FSD is cool, yet idiotic and sporadic sometimes (It will get better) Order and you'll never regret it its a life changer.

Oh yeah, these threads get going. Many on here can't just let someone buy an EV if they want to or not. Not sure why but I guess luddites have to luddite.
