We had a friend who’s grandfather passed yesterday. Only people allowed in were his wife and daughter after a week of not being allowed in. They did get to say goodbye, but those two were the only ones. This was not in Louisiana though, I think Tennessee

It has gotten a lot stricter tge past few days, so I doubt it.

I'm not a medical professional but it was a bad fall, hip surgery, stopped surgery due to complications, went back to try again, and now unconscious/unresponsive. I think there is little chance to move him , he is expected to die quickly.
It was dire enough my father in law was chartering a flight for us out of The Woodlands @ 9:30 tonight so she could try to say goodbye but it does appear the writing is on the wall.
With her positive covid patients, my father in law does not want to get her hope up. In reality , it was less than likely to make it anyway. To protect her , he is just going to explain to her it can't happen.

What hospital in NOLA? My wife told me today that everyone is getting temp checked before walking in the hospital she’s at. Once she’s in she’s free to move from dept to dept but visitors aren’t.

My grandfather passed away over the weekend in Louisiana. No one could visit. No funeral. They are just burying him and that is that. Very sad.

You will have to call. Every hospital will be different.
Where I work at in PHX...we are only allowing 1 visitor for peds patients and a woman in labor. And even then...that can be denied depending on the situation.
End of life situation MIGHT allow a single visitor...but it is handled on a case by case basis and must be approved by our Chief Medical Officer first.

Hospital visitation policies do vary. Ochsner has had a zero visitor policy in effect with a few exceptions. If someone goes to Ochsner's ER, then one person can go in after being screened. If that patient is upgraded to stable and is moved to another part of the hospital, then no visitors are allowed. If a patient has to go to the Benson Center at Ochsner, no visitors are allowed in with the patient.

I think a dying relative would be an exception even for the evil empire on Jefferson Hwy. We had a similar situation and 2 visitors at a time.
