Check out Tudor Black Bay and Tudor Pelagos as well. I've heard only good things about DavidSW, and he has the best prices on those two watches that I've seen.

One of the few lines in any movie dedicated to WIS. I have an Omega and a Rolex, I see the benefits to both. I love the first generation PO, wish I had picked one up (I have a speedy).

I would go Omega, but i would go Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch... it’s the watch i want eventually.. honestly i can afford it, but i just havent been able to let myself pull the trigger on a $3-$4k watch yet.. plus the maintenance costs every few yrs are pretty high.. and i’d always be worried about losing it.. in the meantime i’ve got a Bulova Moonwatch, which , little known fact— is the only privately owned (not government owned like the NASA-issued Omega) watch ever worn on the moon (Google astronaut Dave Scott Moonwatch) which cost me about 1/10th of the price.

I know a couple of people that ordered from Jomashop and had good experiences. Yes you don’t get the factory warranty but you get a warranty from Jamashop. Other than that they appear to be legit.

The SM300 is definitely a watch you must try on, the straight lugs make it wear much larger than the 41mm suggests. I have one put the bracelet drapes straight down from the lugs, which doesn't happen on my Planet Oceans which are 42 and 43.5mm.

Save for the Rolex. I have a Rolex Explorer and its the best watch I’ve ever owned.

I would not buy a gray market omega for your first. Go to omega forums and order from one of the trusted members with factory warranty cards. They will be close to that price.
Off topic, but the movement in the SMP is not built in house like rolex, it's much cheaper.

As a recovering watchaholic who has owned them all I will say you can’t go wrong with either, but when it came time to consolidate my collection I sold them all but 2 to buy one big one. A Seiko skx007 and an Omega seamaster pro 2254.50. I could’ve kept any of them but that is the one I couldn’t part with.
Get the Planet Ocean. They are timeless.
Also, I have bought and sold a ton of watches online. From forums to dealers to Gray market. Joma was fine to deal with.

Joma is a legit seller, lots of people on the various watch forums have bought from them. Most people who are buying their first "nice" watch or what they plan to be their only nice watch buy from ADs though.
Of the two I would pick the Omega, no question. While I am not a big fan of the 2500 movement or the Bond bracelet I pretty much detest Breitling watches.
Someone mentioned the Tudor Black Bay, I have both the burgundy and black versions and I always enjoy wearing them. I prefer the mine are both the first version with the ETA based movement and though I prefer the newer in-house movement I like the rose on the dial vs the shield. The one negative for anyone that will wear it daily is the aluminum bezel vs a ceramic bezel.

Funny enough that is what I am wearing today on the rubber strap. One note about the orange bezel is it is aluminum while the rest of the POs have ceramic, orange ceramic is apparently very hard to make and Omega only released it on a VERY limited platinum Planet Ocean that was $75k.

The Speedy is a whole other discussion and has about 100 variations. The original moon watch has a plexiglass crystal and while by far the most common many people will not want the maintenance and scratch potential of plexi or Hesalite. The other issue is the moonwatch is manual wind, most people that only wear one watch prefer automatics. The Mark 40 (ETA 7753 full calendar movement) would be my fav Speedy if it was 42mm, as it is ours is sized for my wife currently. The other issue for chronograph movements is service is more expensive.

Pretty sure I have read where Ed Mitchell wore a Rolex GMT on the surface of the moon. There are also pictures that seem to support this.
