I prefer the Omega to the Breitling. I'm an Omega guy tho. My daily wear is a Speedmaster.

I personally like the Omega better. But what do I know, I'm an OT poor and sporting that Seiko 5 that went on sale on Amazon

Be aware OP. If you buy from a place like Jomashop, you will not have a factory warranty and may not even be able to get the watch serviced at all by the manufacturer down the road.

I like my Omega Seamaster. I went through the same predicament looking at Rolex’

Seamaster. It’s good enough for Bond.

Yeah, because of product placement. Omega is only good enough for Bond because Omega paid for that privilege. Fleming's Bond wore an oyster perpetual. (nb. Omega's dollars were worth every penny in Casino Royale, when Vesper asks if he is wearing a Rolex).

I LOVE my '62 Seamaster...I dropped some coin into it, but nowhere near the cost of new ones.

Online Omegas are a crap-shoot. Either fakes, frankens, or just poorly re-dialed. Stay away from e-bay.

Google the Omega forum and let the experts there direct you to a quality watch for your price-range.
My 562 caliber still has parts available here and there without having to go sending it to fricking OMega for an arm and a leg should something happen.

Both will track time accurately, which is obviously the most important function of a watch. However, so will a Timex.

Both are well known brands with "prestige". That's why they cost thousands. Personally, I feel Omega has a bit more of a "prestige" factor, but that's just me. If you are trying to impress others...which really is the biggest reason for buying a $5,000+ watch if we are cutting out all the BS, then I'd go Omega. However, pick the one you like the best and don't worry so much about what others think. If you select the one based upon other people's opinions vs. your own, you're going to have buyer's remorse.

To each there own, but this is my favorite Omega. It's a classic that looks great with a metal bracelet, a leather strap, or the black/gray James Bond nato strap.

I love the Sub, but you are taking 2k vs 6k, not really same price bracket.

Between those 2 the omega no question. Logs of options in that price range though so make sure you look around. Consider Sinn if you haven't already

I am thinking of getting myself a new watch for Christmas. Rolex Submariner would be my first choice but I am not going to lay out that kind of cash right now. I have it narrowed down to an Omega Seamaster and a Breitling Super Ocean. Both are similarly priced. Which watch should I get?
